The songs that Lee Freeman and Ed King wrote together and the songs that Steve Bartek and I wrote together were written in strum mode. Bass parts, drums, keyboards, flute, electric guitars, solos and harmonies were added later.
They saw the Fat One Coming is probably as close to it's stripped down self as any of them.
Obviously, the songs that Mark Weitz wrote with Ed King were closer to their final incarnations at the inception.
Paul Marshall's sac presence had folk leanings and he definitely had and has a folk background. He has that classic kind of folk vocal style.

: SAC ever consider any forays into folk or the
: Dylanesque as Love did with "Signed
: D.C." and "Bummer in the
: Summer"?I know this would have provided
: quite a descrepency between style and band
: moniker, but then who would have expected the
: grandiosities of "Pet Sounds" from
: a group called the Beach Boys?!
