Oden, I loved reading this post from you even though I know zilch about outboard motors. I can imagine the way ya'll felt at knowing that that bigger and more expensive motor wasn't as great as it was "cut out to be." It took me right back to my own fun times at Laura Walker. Back in the mid-to-late 50's/early 60's, we rented one of those red lake front buildings (if any were available and, if not, we'd rent one of the open pavilions as close to the pool as possible) every year in June for our family reunions. I couldn't wait because I loved to watch the skiers and the boats in the lake. It was big time fun for me to just watch. I had no desire to ski there myself, though. I saw those alligators occasionally sunning themselves on the grass right off the lake and people pointing and screaming "alligator - alligator!!!" That was more than enough reason for me not to want to even stick my big toe in it. I was still a major water bug at the pool there, though. Such good memories.
