Re: Such a Sad, Horrific Tragedy
I can't understand it myself, Buck, but I do know it happens. Many years ago, when I lived in Neptune Beach, a father and his 9 year-old son, who also lived in Neptune Beach, had gone hunting. It was something they did often as a father/son bonding time. On this trip, the son told his dad he was hungry and was going back to their truck to get something to eat. The dad waited a while and then decided to go join his son. When he got close to where the truck was parked, the dad looked across the road and down a ways and saw the top of something black at the bottom of a sloping hill that sloped down into a ditch. Without thinking it through, he raised his gun and fired. What he saw was the top of his son's cap. The boy was lying on the slop and died instantly. It was heartbreaking. He and his wife ended up getting divorced because she just could not find it in her heart to forgive him.
