I have not seen the series, so it is too grand of me to comment, but all the extracts I have seen made me to feel very much like Marie. He did look out of context, not cosy, unsettled and uncomfortable in the whole suffocating microinvironment of a medical drama. If this was intended, I applaude Jeremy.
