As for internet cults, yes he probably would hate it to be in the Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston & Richard Armitage category. But internet cults come & go; real, lasting acclaim by his peers and fans is what I believe he would like.
Please note that I'm not saying the three gentlemen I named don't have real acclaim by their peers & fans. I admire all three and think they deserve all the acclaim they get. Jeremy just seems very uncomfortable with the kind of raving fandoms the internet seems to foster, and as we know, he's not a fan of the medium itself.
That said, he's just going to have to put up with the small, respectful, adoring internet fandom he has in us.
