The fella who died at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Posted by Bertram_Wooster User icon on October 11, 2026, 4:53 pm

Severely autistic 30 year old, who was there with carers.

He wasn't wagging his finger at the tiger, he was signing in Makaton for it to stop...

Poor soul.

Got it all together and I'm ready to seethe.

Awfully sad, when I first heard I thought it would be some numbskull showing off, it pains me to think about this poor soul and the people connected with it, his carers & family, not to mention the people who witnessed what must have been a horrific sight.
As mentioned, what is wrong with people when the first thing they think is record this on the phone. Crimes taking place for evidence I can understand, but this?

It's one thing recording it.
It's another to put it out there.
I've not seen it and have no wish to.

Grim, poor kid.
Was obvious from the video he wasn't acting in a normal way, god bless him. Still seemed to get turned into a culture war, the poor tiger etc. Heartbreaking that.

I was concerned the (extremely endangered) tiger was going to be put down for, let's face it, being a tiger, but that's not going to happen.

I've not seen the video and I'm quite happy about that.

Got it all together and I'm ready to seethe.

So very sad - I've experience with a young relative who is acutely non-verbal adhd and can easily understand what happened and can relate to the incident and with the young Noah in Suffolk a few weeks ago

terrifying to contemplate

Blows my mind that someone witnessed that and the first thing that crossed their mind was to film it

Still, at least they’re getting their dopamine hits today

He climbed down from the walkway over the enclosure: quite common that they're uncovered, I know the one at Wildwood over the bear enclosure is just a rope walk.

I suspect this will change in the near future.

Where were the carers in all this?

Without knowing where they were they were possibly dealing with other people in their care. Often there are too many people needing looking after with too few carers.

Didn't it happen with the lad who pushed the kid in the crocodile enclosure that he was autistic and slipped his carers.

All sad really.

I'm not a professional at this thing but I did once volunteer to look after an adult autistic lad at a non league football match and I can tell you, you have to have eyes in the back of your head and where he wants to go he will go.

There's enough tragedy here without the meeexto find anyone at 'fault'... I'm sure they will be in bits anyway and it will lube with them forever.

Well, that's another element. If the fella was quick enough over the rail, what could they do?

Either way, they're never going to forgive themselves.
