Gary Neville talking on Sky Sports News

Posted by bignev User icon on October 2, 2026, 2:40 pm

Making some very good points about the whole situation and that the whole set up is wrong. Draws comparison with the shitty six trying to break away and how they got a slap on the wrist for that. He’s gone in big on the owners.

Says the PL won’t be damaged if they are kicked out and that the way it stops others trying to be competitive is wrong.

I know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but that was a good interview.

All the other clubs in the Premier League at the time voted for these rules and behaved like serfs to the UCL monopolising 4 overlords to ensure that any club getting massive investment would be labelled cheats if they rose above their station.

I’ve not been sitting here fuming about City for years. I see both sides of it. I just think it would be funny now if they get completely fucked. It’s also potentially one less team better than Everton.

We broke shit rules we voted for, they broke shit rules they voted for. We got punished. They should too, commensurate to the scale of their rule breaking. Everything else is another argument that hopefully can be the start of real change.

Whereas Man Utd broke the rules and got given an exceptional Covid allowance for the same amount as their PSR breach and 16 x more than the next highest Covid allowance, conveniently avoiding a breach. City are corrupt, and the premier league are corrupt, it’s not about taking sides, hopefully city come crashing down and take masters and co and a few of the snakey 6 down with them. Doubt it though.

Chelsea selling hotels and women’s team to themselves for ridiculous fees being within their rules shows how unsuitable the rules are. And then there’s overlooking 20+ players in one squad all being diagnosed with asthma to excuse why their testing would show up steroids in their system…

Couldn’t agree more. Hope it’s the beginning of the end for the current set up

The fact they’ve since changed the rules to be about squad cost and not to do with building infrastructure says it all. It’s the niasse ban on a grand scale all over again.

If they fine punish city and don't change the rules to allow fairer competition they are essentially saying only the big 4 can buy the best players from now on.

City are innocent in my eyes.
Spent to improve the team and local area nd have 0 debt, compare that to others. Look at the state of the surrounding area of Anfield.
Utd 1bn debt and asking for handouts from the public purse.
Sour grapes from the greedy 6.
Play on i say
The team on the pitch won everything within the spirit of the game.

A lovely fella thinks we are going down if we stick with Moyes.

They clearly broke the rules of the competition they entered.

The rules are utterly bent though.

Hopefully the result of all this will be rules coming in that don't favour ANYONE, in regards to amount anyone can spend

If they do their should be some allowance for newly promoted teams to spend more

They're guilty as sin. I think this is a lot bigger than comparing them to the Utd/shite angle here, who City were happy to join another league with anyway.

Other things City are guilty of:
Inflatable bananas
Double denim
Signing Utd legends (cranks)
Wearing tea towels on their head
Making an Evertonian throw a crutch at Nicolas Anelka

Not arsed what they've done
Kopites thinking they have the moral ground absolutely laughable.
Are you even an Evertonian?

Not everything is viewed from the prism of a Kopite Shandy....this is how tinpot we've become.

Everton v the shite is bigger to me than City/Utd v the shite, why would I care what cheating Mancs do in relation to LFC?

Kopites are imbeciles I don't need Manchester to help me out on it. As an Evertonian you shouldn't neither.

Absolutely mind bending to me you think I'm a Kopite cause I don't support Manchester City cheating btw, FFS. You're fucked I'm afraid.

Any proper Evertonian with real EFC values out there let me know. This board at one time hated modern football too, part of the cog it seems now. Up the Toffees.

By the rules, they're clearly guiltier than a puppy sitting next to a pile of shite.

The rules, however, can kiss my swingers...so...spot on.

Got it all together and I'm ready to seethe.

In a game where every single club instructs it's players to go out and break or bend the rules and get away with as much as they can every single week, singling out one of its members as being a 'cheat' seems a bit rich to me.

Defo add Arsenal to them two, fans of those three clubs definitely making the loudest noises. Some of them won’t even vote for Andy Burnham now.

Calm down, Nosferatu!
