Things you are genuinely terrible at

Posted by betosneck User icon on October 2, 2026, 10:53 am

I often miss clever puns in names. I've been watching this youtube channel about campervans for a couple of years. Liveration it's called. For 2 years I've been thinking it was called Live Ration. Never could understand why.

Anyway, turns out it's a pun on Liberation and Live. And quite possible the bird who presents it being scouse, maybe.

Anyway, totally passed me by and there have been many more.

Nothing that hasn't already been mentioned.

I have the DIY skills of Frank Spencer and the parking ability of Reginald Molehusband. A former girlfriend used to call me Reggie whenever I was trying to reverse park.

Parking.
I'm a good driver but shockingly bad with parking. Sometimes, when I return to my badly parked car & somebody else notices, I 'tut' with them & walk past it until they don't notice me getting in me car. It's embarrassing.

Using filler round a sink, bath or shower. To use the words of a more gifted poet than me on here, I might as well eat the filler then try and shit it around the bath, as it wouldn’t make more of a mess than I do with the gun thing.
The worst thing is that I actually know how to do it properly but just can’t manage it. I usually end up with it all over my clothes, on the ceiling, everywhere except where I want it to be.

I got briefly very good at this in my late 20s and 30s. I would be brilliant at it now, were I not so old and unpleasant to look at.

My son finds attracting women annoyingly easy. He is very good looking, tall and athletic and naturally a smiley person*, and this seems to be enough for him. He was at a concert in Heaton Park recently and a girl who had been dancing in front of him and sharing the occasional smile, at one point, without even talking to him, turned round and handed him her phone with the “add new contact” screen open. I was unusually annoyed at the ease of this for him.
