Back in the day I think fans of all clubs could dream that one day their star could shine, if Derby, Forest, Ipswich and Blackburn could come to the party then it could surely come to any of us.

Older Chelsea and City fans will remember days when what has happened to them recently were but a distant dream, but it would have still seemed possible no matter how improbable during their darkest hours.

But now all that is locked permanently away. The Leicester case proved that even rare miracles inevitably end in misery.

The closest thing these days to a fanbase that can dream the biggest of dreams is Wrexham, but even that is likely because they have yet to suffer the crushing reality that is the Premier League and even if Rob and Ryan manage to pluck billions out of thin air, the big stuff is still gonna be behind a locked gate.
