Everton aren't really the issue, are they?

If in order to stay within the financial rules, you are forced to sell your best attacking player on the final day, to a club who have (allegedly, over many years) broken the rules, and still not been punished, then it matters not how well the club is run, in the grand scheme of things.

Everton certainly do not do themselves any fucking favours like, but any anger should be directed at the system, and not the club itself.

Boycotting sausage rolls or ale in the ground gives the message that it is Everton who are the problem. They are not. Everton are merely one symptom.

Everton are part of that system, they vote for it. I think PSR or whatever it just a a nice excuse for them all to rip the fans off. I agree some of the rules are a joke an don't help competition, but that argument does a lot of heavy lifting were we are concerned.

Think some of our tickets cost more than Shite or Man City now also, that's a joke and should be protested against.

It can be both.

The system is shite.

However it should be a basic requisite that a club has at least 2 players for each position on the pitch in their squad. The fact that a big top flight club like us has no depth in 3 positions on the pitch is pathetic.

I don't know mate.

I thought it was to do with PSR or whatevs, ie 'you can't have your new right back and forward unless you sell someone due to PFR' and because we sold very late on in the day, therefore we're trying to pick up players at the last minute. So when it goes to shit, there is no plan B,C, D or whichever letter was after Balogun's name on the 'forwards in' list.

nobody knows the real issue, but the fact that every other club (or at least say fourteen of them) are subject to the same nonsense rules yet don’t end up with as much egg on their face as we do suggests there’s something not right

This. The promoted teams this season and last season have hugely bettered us in the transfer market, whilst us, a consistent PL side, who have been prudent for years, seem to be struggling to get players in. Ipswich signed that Burnley striker yesterday that we’d looked at, absolutely zero stress just bid for him signed him done and dusted. Every Everton transfer is like a psychodrama that is at least 50/50 likely to end up in chaos and failure.

Who the fuck knows exactly what percentage we will come in at for the squad cost rules without going full 'The Esk'.

And we voted for the new rules... it got past 14-6, so if we had voted against it, then we would still be on the old rules.

The owners of the club (most clubs) aren't innocent parties - the premier league are only doing their bidding.

Yeah agree - Arsenal bringing on Eze, Guimaraes and Konsa as 'see it out' subs the other night really wound me up on this. 3 teams who have all tried to get going and all actually won a trophy recently's captains.... just hoovered up as squad additions.

The system/framework is just disgusting

I don't follow PL footy that much, so have no idea about transfers unless they involve Everton, but fuck me, that really says it all.

its just seen as a given, and its ok. its fucking not ok at all. villa have done really well since they potted the fod a few years ago.

there is no way a system that limits spending based on merit is ever going to end up any other way than what he have now.

i.e. the people that were in a decent place when the system started are getting further and further away.

every year that goes by increases the gap.

Yeah there was a game the other year where it was Leeds 0 Villa 0 on a Sunday and they were proper snide about it lacking quality - again both team's previous captains (Phillips and Grealish) were on City's bench for their game later in the day

the problem for me is the current media (except the older ones) are all products of the PL era, so its just accepted that certain teams are destined to be successful.

Very true, it certainly needs some pushback at least. Any club/clubs falling foul of this new set of rules should start by threatening to countersue the Premier League if they attempt to prosecute them whilst the Man City case is allowed to continue on ad infinitum.

The City case should be dealt with one way or another BEFORE anyone else can ever be charged.
