This is a normal situation when the doctor of the club raises concerns. It’s quite normal that clubs will look for other specialists, share the images and discuss the case. This was ongoing.

And now we are still waiting for ‘Balo’ to come back for us to sit and discuss and to realise between us what’s next. We still have other markets open, which we are having discussions about with different players, including ‘Balo’. Let’s see what can still happen until Thursday, because we still have markets that have the financial capacity to do something.

Interesting that you are making a big issue of that part of what he has said, but completely ignoring the bit he said about the medical issues making no sense to either his club's or the player's personal medical teams.

If that was £7m (and potentially less than that before appearances) on someone we prob know is there for the squad, not ever-present, that is different to £40m for someone we want to be all-in on.

As below I just think we never were fully convinced on him and any negatives were going to seem more of a thing in that situation

oh 100% mate, not keeping Beto hanging on til the last minute is the clanger for me. Then you weigh it up and think actually might be harsh on him but the sensible move is just to keep him for another few months.

In total isolation I get why they didn't go through with Balogun.

I know but that deal might be appearance based for all we all and we've weighed that up and thought £7m as basically Gana Gueye replacement is worth it and not necessarily 1st choice every week we can live with him not getting into it til October.

But (again guessing) £40m all up front, massive wages and we need him fit every week - we didn't like that weigh up.

Refreshing to see a chairman be so open about this stuff. I think it would ease a lot of the frustration if our chairman did the same....although I can also see why they might not want to and they are certainly under no obligation to anyone but the owners and themselves to do so.

It could really be that, and if its a serious issue or risk, it the right thing to do.
It could fuck us up for the next few transfer windows.

And equally it could be Everton trying to screw the terms down at the last minute - great if it works, although your reputation for doing deals is tarnished.

it said in the article they worked through it with the medical teams until everton were satisfied.

i have no issue with us doing that. maybe should have done it monday, but thats another matter.
