I can't believe we didn't even seem arsed about signing a left back.

Utterly obsessed with loading the middle and top end of the pitch.

I can't even think of anyone else we've got who could do a job there if Myko is out.

Branthwaite in an emegency i suppose, but the downside being that he is taken from the role he excels at.

But i agree with you. Its scandalous a club the size of Everton doesn't have two competent players for every position. LB, we havent even got one comptent player.

Myko is last.

It's one game at a time with Branthwaite isn't it, with his recent injury record etc and his minutes need to be managed carefully, same with James Garner and Grealish. 3 keepers and an injured Norgaard, a good number of young lads and it's not the most robust of squads we have is it?

It's going to be Maitland Niles on cover and if Mykolenko is properly goosed they will surely bring back Aznou

They can’t bring him back until January at the earliest by standard player registration rules, and maybe not til the summer depending on the terms of the loan.

The window was similar to how last season ended, at one point it looked very promising and we started getting excited but ultimately going pear shaped and turning into a disgrace.

Not even a hint was there? A loan move or something?

We got linked a few days back to the guy who went to Leeds, but that was just one or two links, nothing much else.

Again, you cannot loan out the back-up guy if you don’t have something sorted for that role in your squad.

Just total basics.

The more you sit back and think about it, the more diabolical you realise how the window was for us.

Apart from the Balogun fiasco with Beto leaving on the same day, the usual Everton classic of signing injured players, the embarrassment of trying and failing for a second time to sign Tete and the frankly mad move to let our only left back cover leave right at the end of the window with no replacement.

Garner played there early last season and acquitted himself very well, and we are better placed now to replace him in midfield if needs be. Just seems a waste to have to move him away from his area of biggest influence.

Garner is/was basically the best fullback in the club.

We must be the only top tier club whose back ups for 3 key positions are players playing out of position. It’s amateur.

It just doesn’t stack up as it doesn’t allow for using your squad to give players a breather or drop them if they are out of form or have a fitness issue. If garner is back up left back, you can hardly use him for fresh legs for Myko on 70 mins, has he’s already got 70 in his own legs playing in midfield.

yeah purely on ability he is the easy 1st choice right back

Think the only game we've lost with him there was Arsenal away last year

Yeah could’ve played that loads of last season too.

Might see it a bit more this season but the 433 looks his preferred choice and suits the squad when everyone is fit etc
