Moyes post match

“I’m not sure that we will”

When asked if we will get more players in.

Cheers Davy boy.

Usual negativity after another win.
Well done all some belters on this thread and banjo hasn't started yet either!

I get the feeling some are annoyed we won

Hoping for a disastrous start to get Moyes out

Definitely a weird small element of that.

I think it's just a symptom of modern everything though, the online-ness. If you just step back we've got a much younger, quicker looking team and have won 2-0 and 4-0. Something will go wrong probably but at the moment everyone's doing their jobs quite well.

It's fair enough isn't it?

Maybe people can be made up with a great start, see a squad look younger, fitter and more mobile, AND express some frustration at the manager having a summer-long sulk, as well as wondering what is going on between him and baby-faced meeting room merchant Angus Kinnear et al.

I may be describing myself here! Not the meeting room bit.

Agree Moyes and the team are not perfect but things are looking positive

The average age of the team is coming down and we’ve added a bit of pace to the team

3 tough league games coming up will see where we are after that

Re: Moyes post match

Posted by Efcman User icon on August 27, 2026, 9:16 am, in reply to "Re: Moyes post match "

im choosing to think that people arent able to step back and take in the bigger picture of where we where, where we are now, and what the potential is with the new ground and owners.

5 years of being ground into the floor will do that.

saw something on toffee tv yesterday which summed it up well i thought. along the lines of...

"evertonians are like coiled springs. 30 plus years. every year we dont achieve something the spring gets wound tighter. its not happening fast enough for a lot of fans given what theyve had to endure. the people in charge now arent responsible for the previous 30 years but are having to deal with it".

or something like that.

pretty spot on i thought

I'm reading it as people moaning about people moaning about things they don't want to necessarily moan about.....but are happy to moan about other subjects regardless of others thoughts and views.

Re: Moyes post match

Posted by joe_euro User icon on August 27, 2026, 9:21 am, in reply to "Re: Moyes post match "

I'm seeing it as if we get to the end of this window without carnage in people leaving , we've achieved the first stage of the bigger plan. Noticeably quicker, younger feel to the squad, no chance of going down at all, new ground normalised. Get Europe this season and the direction is pretty good.

We will have a couple of crap days along the way and if people want to listen Moyes' platitudes after them and get annoyed then they can I suppose but not really sure the point of dooing it.

You see I saw that comment entirely the other way - he said something like "not through want of my trying" or something ...ie he wants players, he wants to sign more players, but he's prevented from signing them.

It's not - poster is blaming Moyes for preventing signings post interview: "Cheers Davy boy."

I felt Moyes was reasonably clear there - he's not not making signings through his choice.

I think want of my trying relates to him speaking to players personally and trying to attract them? It was evident he was involved in talking Grealish into joining as well as Hackney. He also made a big personal play for Delap last summer and spoke with him didn’t he.

Can we wheel out one of the back-room staff to attend interviews going forward?

I never want Moyes to speak in public again.

He makes the good sound bad and the bad sound horrific.

I'm sure pretty much all blues would be fuming if Grealish ends up at Sunderland.

We have a really young team, he would make a huge difference. Great player and they both seemingly liked each other.

It seems such a no brainer

Re: Moyes post match

Posted by westy User icon on August 26, 2026, 10:55 pm, in reply to "Re: Moyes post match "

I'd be happy to see him at Sunderland as I don't want us to re-sign him as it'll only happen if we've flogged Ndiaye.

Grealish would just block the development of players we actually own. Ndiaye need can make that left side his own this season, George as very strong back up.

His wages are insane and would be far better spent on a right back.

Re: Moyes post match

Posted by hilary_briss User icon on August 26, 2026, 11:07 pm, in reply to "Re: Moyes post match "

Don't agree. He's properly class and would be our best player. Ndiaye was sound on the rightm went off the boil after afcon but I don't think it was down to him being on the right.

I've no idea what our finances are like TBF. Surely one of the benefits of moving was to be in a position to buy good players though.

Agree we probably need to sell a few and if we can get money for some even if that is o brien it makes sense. Along with Beto alcaraz and a couple of other bit parts.

Id like to keep o brien btw but realise with the financial rules you need to buy and sell. He'd probably brinh the biggest wedge in too

Completely disagree. Grealish was a joy to watch last season and you need your experience to show the youth the way and give them confidence.

He started off very well and then faded pretty quickly. Good at drawing fouls and keeping the ball but certainly not a joy to watch for me. That will be Ndiaye and George if they get minutes on the pitch this season, hopefully Johnson too. I'd love to include Dibling in this but it just doesn't look likely.

We have lots of experienced players to show the way. KDH, Garner, Pickford all leaders.

Re: Moyes post match

Posted by gaizka6 User icon on August 26, 2026, 10:36 pm, in reply to "Re: Moyes post match "

I think it’s that, too.

A total lack of alignment, and Moyes has thrown his toys around all summer because of it.

Great to see such grown up behaviour because we wouldn’t sign Kieran Trippier or something.

I’m guessing so too, I’m torn on him, he’s completely uninspiring from a fan point of view; but players love him.

If there’s disagreement on transfers (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing) then the CEO and board should make a decision.

That’s their job.

Re: Moyes post match

Posted by ddarko User icon on August 26, 2026, 10:51 pm, in reply to "Re: Moyes post match "

No they shouldn’t. The final say should always be the managers the CEO doesn’t pick the team

Re: Moyes post match

That's not generally how it works anymore. And when you see managers (coaches would be a more appropriate title) getting the bullet every 18 months or so you can see why it's more prudent getting a transfer committee sourcing the players. The strategy then is to seek a manager (coach) who's style can best suit the personnel.

Backwards from how it used to be, but these players are too expensive now to keep changing them at the same speed as a manager (coach).

Director of football maybe.

Certainly not Moyes - would you trust a dour, jaded, thin skinned man who refuses to take responsibility for last seasons embarrassing run of games and knows he’s more than likely gone at the end of the season?
