First team stats

2025-2026 - one goal and one assist in 28 Premier League appearances for Chelsea
2024-2025 - 12 goals and two assists in 37 Premier League appearances for Ipswich Town
2023-2024 - eight goals and two assists in 31 Championship appearances for Hull City
2022-2023 - four goals in 37 Championship appearances for Stoke City

Not one I am too bothered we have missed out on.

Everton wanted him because at £30m he knew that he could give him a year in the first team and shift him on for £50m even if it didn't work out. Exactly the same as Chelsea but with 35 starts.

In his only season of regular football he got a reasonable return in a woeful Ipswich side so he can't be instantly dismissed as shite.

I'm of no opinion of him particularly, but there was a unanimous clamour for him 12 months ago so hindsight is easy.

There are many many cases of a move not working out for a young(ish) lad though so I think the simple farmhand stuff remains to be seen. I'm not saying he's worth a £50m punt like, but speaking of him solely as a player one good season one bad season he could still be absolutely anything.

It is in isolation. Well it is anyway you're right. No footballer should be costing £50m let's have it right.

It was always Chelsea's plan to buy him on the cheap and flog him on. Issue now is he's on Chelsea wages. He's from the Midlands so this move might suit him. He's clearly an idiot and I'm glad we've not signed him.

I still think he'd offer more all round than Beto and Barry, but at £50m you'd want more for your money.

I'm broadly of the same view, other than i haven't too much of an opinion of him as a player - telling of how other Prem footy I watch other than us.
Didn't he give us a hard time down there and f all up here??
There will be a serious number of eyes wiped on here if he scores 20 goals for Forest but equally I agree if we spend £50m and he's another Barry or worse then we are fooked. The next big striker outlay needs to be fairly guaranteed of providing something

This is why I think we need a loan now, buy later deal. Someone we can get in for this season and if he turns out to be anywhere near a competant striker, invest big cash later (even if the loan fee/transfer fee is a little more hiked than it would otherwise be).

Quite who is out there that would fit the bill and would be available on this sort of deal though is totally beyond me.

Might explain Moyes increasingly titty lip, loan to buy deal lined up, only for Forest to come in and pay the £50 mil no-one was expecting anyone to pay
