They've just been done twice at home by Leeds.

That's why Chelsea wanted him. Under valued release clause on that season. They had no intention of him being a Chelsea regular. If it worked great, if not £20m great. He's a fucking idiot for going there though

Some massively premature shouts here.

Some players just need to feel like they're the main man at a club, he might be one of them who knows? Way too early to have him as some kind of jobber after one bad season at a madhouse like Chelsea, where he certainly wasn't alone.

Good job there's none of that kind of chaos at Notts Forest

Everyone knew the Chelsea move wouldn’t work out, he could have joined us last summer but chose not to.

Fuck him.

Calm down, Nosferatu!

Potentially, but the fee seems bonkers.

I can't keep up with transfer fees anymore so I've honestly no idea, but I was talking more about the player, who appears to be in the "i wouldn't touch him with a bargepole" and "bullet dodged" bracket within 12 months, and long before the £50m move - and all whilst in the backdrop we rotate between Barry and beto....remarkable times!

Yeah. They're a nonsense nowadays anyway. I quite liked him at Ipswich, where he had a decent season, especially considering their struggle as a team just to score at all, but in our home game against them, I saw next to nothing. He seems to have something, but he might have just been on a streak in that season.

I agree about Chelsea, and also recently Man U and Spurs. Wouldn't judge anyone playing for such cluster fcuks. Different manager and/or club and a player can look like a world beater. Wissa did more for us just on Sunday, than in the entirety of last season.

I think that's fair, but £50m is a helluva gamble on a fella that's had one half decent season at Ipswich, then bombed at (the agreed madhouse of) Chelsea.

He might come good - but he more likely won't.

I would have liked him at us, I reckon he would have been an upgrade on the other two.

Yeah I said I think he's worth a punt. And I think we may have gone in if it was a loan or a lot lower fee. That seems a lot though. If Glasner wants him though...

He had a good season at Ipswich

Here’s me thinking Glasner knows a good player when he sees one.

1=20

Reckon her would've cto that last year if not.

Not saying it makes him worth it now...

Market is irrational.

It wouldn’t be the end of the world if we didn’t sign anyone else, assuming no outgoings.

It does make our dealings so far look pretty ace

Elliott for £117m or Hackney for £17m

Savinho for £75m or George for £20m

Tho I'd love to see a full back (or two) and a striker come in - with a Grealish return being the cherry on a particularly parsimonious cake.

Good comparisons them, could add a comparison of Rohl as well if I could think of someone similar

Makes you wonder what Armstrong must be qkrth

I don't understand your comparison, one lad has played about 100 games the other barely 10, shoved out on the wing half the time. Armstrong will have a valuation when he has a body of work to be properly judged on.

Re: Forest agreeing £50m for Delap

Posted by TeddyBoy User icon on August 25, 2026, 8:10 pm, in reply to "Re: Forest agreeing £50m for Delap"

I wasn't comparing Armstrong with anyone as he hasn't yet commanded a transfer fee, I was wondering how much he would be worth bearing in mind some of the astronomical fees flying about.

I appreciate he is still very young and inexperienced but he has loads of potential. What's the value on that?

I hope he's the next Colin Harvey and gives us 15 years rendering a valuation immaterial. Having seen the likes of Rodwell, Holgate, Davies and the likes in recent years though I'm definitely not thinking the lad is anything just yet, it's miles too early.

They’ve spent £150m on 3 mid tier central midfielders.

I can’t see Carrick lasting the season.
