Moyes

Posted by Mr OW Bol User icon on August 25, 2026, 10:40 am

It would be really nice if he actually won something. This will possibly/probably be his final season, unless he gets a relegation rescue mission for someone down the line.

The half of me that is 'glass half full, happy clappy, school of science, we're on an upward trajectory, it's 11 v 11 lads' reckons there's a chance.

The other half of me thinks that half is a deluded cunt, and we're going out pens tomorrow.

I think he’s rightly frustrated that we missed an opportunity last season but he’s mostly to blame for that.

He must also be frustrated that we apparently have to sell to buy (Beto, Ireogbunam, Alcaraz, Patterson, Travers all up for sale).

Makes you wonder why we’ve spent £70m without signing a rightback.

It’s a shitshow and no mistake.

Re: Moyes

Dyche acted the bellend, decided he couldn’t be arsed anymore as he’d taken us as far as he could (I.e I only do surivival) but even though he admitted he didn’t want his job anymore, refused to resign from it.

The owners would have been well within their rights in January to point out to Moyes they’d given him a handful of players he hadn’t bothered using, and to give them some game time.

Re: Moyes

Posted by BertieBigBollocks User icon on August 25, 2026, 9:06 pm, in reply to "Re: Moyes"

That's an interesting take, one thing that occurred to me when reading it, was if he asked for reinforcements in January and was turned down, is he now fuming that Kinnear has come out and said not qualifying for Europe was a failure when Moyes asked for help to achieve this but is now being blamed despite (in his view) not being given the tools to do so?

Re: Moyes

Posted by Yogi_Clementine User icon on August 26, 2026, 7:20 am, in reply to "Re: Moyes"

If this were to be true, is it not possible that he played the same players all through the last few games, running them into the ground, to make the point to the committee that the rest of squad wasn't good enough and to manage their expectations on what could be achieved unless he had more?

In fact, this sounds exactly like him, I'm sold

Re: Moyes

Posted by SnafflesBlue User icon on August 25, 2026, 5:50 pm, in reply to "Re: Moyes"

Something's gone wrong, clearly.

I said when Kinnear was appointed I never wanted to hear his name again, not because of any visceral dislike, but because if we do then you can bet that stuff has gone tits up.
As far as I'm concerned he's got a behind-the-scenes role, and if things work there's no need for him to make a statement or give an interview or anything else any more than there is for anyone else outside the playing staff and manager. The fact he's coming out and saying stuff is a reaction to something or other and a sign of there being yet another issue.

Equally in my view Moyes can't accept he's not the main character but the club are. Everything's about him.
I guess that's understandable when he treats us all like cunts on the way out the door the first time, and then the club and half the fanbase welcome him back again like he's some kind of returning hero.

Re: Moyes

Posted by fergusduncanson User icon on August 25, 2026, 10:19 pm, in reply to "Re: Moyes"

The crystal clear message from Kinnear even talking so openly is that there is disagreement.

Not a difference of opinion or offering an alternative point of view - he’s saying we should have Europe & be challenging for cups, Moyes is saying that we prioritise league form (90 whole minutes into the season).

This is in Moyes’ DNA of course - naturally cautious, tempering expectations and small c conservative. Probably what was needed during the Dyche period but at odds with a club that wants to go places.

I obviously didn’t expect Phenomenal levels of Sir Bob-ism from him but fooks sake, he could at least pretend to be interested.

Re: Moyes

Posted by SnafflesBlue User icon on August 25, 2026, 10:30 pm, in reply to "Re: Moyes"

He's been around the block for the best part of 30 years as a manager.
If he can't appreciate the value of momentum and SOME form of positivity and optimism at this point he never will. He did get it once, remember the "People's Club" stuff? That was pitch perfect. He played a blinder there. Now he just looks like someone who sees managing Everton as an inconvenience, like he's doing everyone a favour.

Re: Moyes

Posted by Spart User icon on August 25, 2026, 4:40 pm, in reply to "Re: Moyes"

I think you are pretty spot on there re there being fault on both sides. However, if we are being forced to pick sides in this scrap between Moyes and the owners I'm certainly not falling down in the Moyes camp, and I am basing that on what I have experienced from him over the many years he has been our manager, not just the time under TFG.

Most of us knew what we were getting when he came back and he's done absolutely nothing to change those predictions. TFG are cunts for keeping him around and pehaps yes stifling him of money to spend, but I wouldn't give the dour cunt any money to spend if I were the owners either, but then I would'nt have him in my employ.

Re: Moyes

Posted by No_One_Ever_Replies User icon on August 25, 2026, 4:09 pm, in reply to "Re: Moyes"

I think there's a lot in that tbf but I reckon TGF are serious about making a success of Everton no doubt.

If there's going to be a new manager then it makes sense to keep some powder dry.

Mind you as late at the sunlun game I think it was Kinnear alluded to us not being a club who chops and changes manager in his programme notes.

Seemed like a big hint moyes had or was about to earn a new contract.

The fact we bottled getting europe means that probably changed. I think he was only ever meant as a short term fix and said as much in his first everton tv interview when coming back.

Up to chelsea game he had probably done enough to stay as we were locked in to some sort of europe from how it looked.

Something deffo went off piste after that as shown by the form of the team.

He's been his own worst enemy by a) bottling europe last season and b) acting the tit now.

We've bought well and with a few more additions we look well placed to get into europe even if it's the conference league.

Then we're back in business as that's an eminently winnable trophy meaning we'd be in the europa league.

His only real chance of staying would be if that happens so you'd think there'd be win/win scenario for everyone.

Shame he couldn't do that or win us a cup and then go and be scotland manager.

It’s top quality stuff this!

Re: Moyes

Posted by Hilldickson User icon on August 25, 2026, 3:48 pm, in reply to "Re: Moyes"

Dyche was hated more than Moyes on here and that's saying something, I doubt there was much support or sympathy for him. The feeling was that he downed tools and basically left us in the lurch. There's no way he would have negotiated a settlement if he was sacked he would have taken what he was entitled to. If he got more than he was entitled to then he has been treated well

His best chance of winning a trophy this season was qualifying for the Europa conference league last season. Any premier league team in that competition should be favourites to win it due to the financial gulf and the clubs you are competing against.

Moyes isn’t winning a significant game against a “big” club based on decades of evidence of his self imposed glass ceiling, so we can kiss goodbye to a trophy this season.

I thought this was a fake quote

Ive always been Moyes in, i actually really wanted him back and he gave me some great days first time around and he has actually built a really decent basis of a brand new squad again. But thats more to say this isnt me just hating him and wanting him out as i haven't until this last 2 weeks.

But his attitude this last week or so has been poor and its 100% calculated. And that up there from today, which is apparently real - id now relieve him of his duties 11 months early. If he genuinely thinks all he can achieve is keep us in the league at the expense of everything else then he shouldnt be in charge of this season.

Again, its calculated for certain. He has obviously fallen out with Kinnear and co and is wanting a reaction. Or they have told him its this season and over and he wanted an extension and is wanting sacking or to force their hand.

Something isnt right for sure - Kinnear and Moyes are openly contradicting each other at every turn publicly

I don't think he ever got past the '40 points needed first and foremost' mentality that he brought with him when he first joined. Most went along as we were still in shock from 94 and 98 and the dire state of affairs that Smith left behind.

He won something the other year.

Do keep up.

Indeed he did, but I think you might be missing the point of my post, a teeny weeny bit.

Whichever Premier League Club enters the Conference League should be winning it every year (see three out of five winners so far being English teams).

The gap between a bog standard EPL club in terms of finances and every other entrant to that competition is similar to the gap between a snidey six team and a top Championship side.

....and Moyes couldn't even get us to QUALIFY for the fhucker, let alone win it.

He's a born loser. He couldn't even win a trophy when he inherited the Man Utd team that had just been crowned champions, had access to their vast budget and they were still getting the benefit of the snidey 6 refereeing decisions subsidy.

His talent is in the ability to bring relegation threatened clubs to the brink of european qualification (and sometimes over that threshold). He knows this and that's why his language is littered with 'plucky underdogs' soundbites so that it drives home to the listener how he is getting the best out of what is available to him.

Allardyce and Dyche may be more limited managers, but they at least are happy to admit to their tag as relegation specialists and trade off it. Moyes trades off the notion that he is doing the best with the resources available to him and if only he was given the respect he deserved in the transfer market by clubs, players and agents he'd show the world just how good he is.

My God

This is one of the most spot on things I have ever read on here, I literally could not have put it better myself

Can we also add that he doesn't like to play exciting young players unless his hand is forced ie Alcaraz, Dibling and George (last season) and dont even get me started on playing Harrison on the wing for a number of games and then dropping him altogether, rest assured when Garner and Nordgaard or whatever are fit, they will replace Hackney and Armstrong regardless of how well they are doing at the time

Id give that accolade to Pickford or KDH, garner is in the mix

But hes coming back from injury & needs time, my point is it doesnt matter how good Hackney & armstrong are, Moyes will revert to his favourite negative tactics at the first opportunity

A trophy which any English manager should be sacked for not winning.

Got it all together and I'm ready to seethe.

See my earlier response. How many years has he managed in the top flight? How many clubs and he's got one trophy to show for it?

He has also only so far got Everton to one cup final and two semi's in nearly 14 seasons of trying......I've no idea what his record elsewhere with that is, but I'll bet it's pathetic.

All the domestic cups are notoriously difficult to win. Only the biggest and the bestest.

Yet, such luminaries as Blackburn, Boro, Birmingham, Swansea, Newcastle, Wigan, Portsmouth, Leicester and Palace have all managed to win at least one of them since the first time Moyes took charges of 'plucky little' Everton.

It'd be nice if I came home to Hayley Attwell doing the dishes in the nip, gasping for a bit of Bertram.

More likely than that twat winning a pot with Everton.

When he is done with managing, I'm sure he'll be pleased with the big framed pictures in his study of him holding the Conf League Trophy and Charity Shield (and I bet those pictures are actually there too!)
