Spot on re the manager - I would like to think without making the sub the ref blows up before they get anywhere near the box (Probably not though and an extra minute would be added as they were getting beat)

It was anailed on pen

Absolutely.

I’d expect that given against my side 10 times out of 10. And when it was given, I’d be looking squarely at our full back and not their winger.

‘He’s looked for it.’ Course he has. He’s a winger breaking into the box with his team one behind in the final minute. If he looks, and he finds due to the full back’s naivety or desperation, then it’s still a penalty.

THIS.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. That substitution was a stupid thing to do.

Sense

I agree, I also agree with a lot of the responses below that if it had been on an Everton player we'd all be screaming for a pen.

The issue here is that back in the good old days before we started microscopically going over every incident in every game, most of the football world screams for a pen, because they've seen one of their players go down in the box, they haven't really seen what's gone on but they know their team needs a goal and they are desperate for anything they can get.

If the ref waves play on, they have a moan about it in the moment, probably one in the pub after the match and then its forgotten and we all move on.

Nowadays however we have pricks like Shearer making a living out of creating every single narrative they can to justify the penalty shout....even if its in direct contradiction to their justification for the last penalty shout and the world can't keep on moving until everyone gets closure at this perceived injustice.

The clubs at the top end of the scale have more supporters to be outraged, more freinds in the media to support their case, so inevitably the 'injustices' that go against them get more clout in the national conscience.

Roll forward a couple of decades of this cryarsing nonsense and we now have players that are happy to accept contact and fall in the box, even if they are actually denying thmeselves a better goalscoring opportunity if they'd stayed on their feet

Everyone involved in regulating the game from the refs, to the VAR fellas to the suits in charge, are subconsciously terrified of giving anything that might outrage those loudest voices so they get the majority of these decisions in their favour and so the penalty count is disproptionately in favour of these teams every single year and the rest have no chance of a level playing field when coming up against them.

I've not seen it so have just watched it and I'm afraid to say that's a penalty, there's an angle behind the goal which clearly shows Hall 'knee' Munoz's left leg, if that was against us and we didn't get it we would be fuming. And this takes into account my pathological hatred of how easy modern pens are given for.

What's mental to me is seeing anyone say it wasn't a pen.

I get that we hate them. But you just look ridiculous if you say that's not a pen

Really? If that's N'Diaye we all say that's a pen surely? You could tell by Hall's reaction he knew he'd messed up too

It wouldn't have been a free kick so it was never a pen, it certainly wouldn't have been given for an away team in front of the kop

I think there's an important difference between them two

McGinn got his foot in as the ball was there and tried to defend defend it.

The Newcastle one, the ball was gone before Hall stepped across his man.

I personally think they are still both pens but I can see why the McGinn one was a closer call.

Wow the contrast in those! This is what is meant when it's said that it's a penalty that gets given to the snide six but no-one else.
