Belting the Portuguese anthem out with gusto. What a guy.

I have never got the Martinez love in. Apart from this first season the footy under him was utter dog poop.

He was just cool when he came in. First time we'd ever played from the back, he brought in Lukaku and had Spanish ged and we were quite exciting. And he had a degree and a massive telly in his house with the full football package

He also insisted on playing Tim Howard when he was costing us a goal a game.

He bigged up the club at every possible opportunity (still does) and patently got what Everton is.

Compare him to knife to a gunfight Davey.

Defending never changes with his teams.

A lovely fella thinks we are going down if we stick with Moyes.

Spent the half the summer of 2014 lounging on a tiki hut beach on Copacabana beach for ESPN.

Living the dream.

Pity he was a premier league manager and the pre season fixtures hadn’t been sorted

Worth it just for the role reversals from us staunch Martinheads and those pesky Moylesiah's.

one of the most sensational players you are going to see in Premier League history.

About who?

Aye, such a useless manager would never get the gig of looking after the world's best players....twice.

Spongebob Squarehead got the Dutch job then Barcelona then the Dutch job again. Once you're on that gravy train, you're on it.

What’s he won with those world’s best players?

Re: Sir Bob

Posted by Spart User icon on June 17, 2026, 6:58 pm, in reply to "Re: Sir Bob"

Bugger all, but when there's one tournament every two years opportunities to ruin aren't that great are they.

All I'm saying really is Martinez isn't this absolute fool that a lot of Evertonian make him out to be because if he was he'd be bouncing around with some Spanish or Italian third rate outfit instead of being entrusted with some of the best players in the world for over a decade.

Re: Sir Bob

Posted by Teflon_Don User icon on June 17, 2026, 7:14 pm, in reply to "Re: Sir Bob"

So with Belgium’s best ever players he won nothing? Right.

Classic statement there Spart.

All I'm saying really is Moyes isn't this absolute fool that a few wussagers on a backwater nerdboard make him out to be because if he was he'd be bouncing around with some championship or league one third rate outfit instead of being entrusted with top level players for well over 2 decades.

Why are things so black and white for one, and unhinged for the other.

In reality, they have both had relatively successful careers without the pots to show for it.

Probably better to big up your players than sit them on the bench and say they’ll get better by sitting and watching. Which is what the Moyesasaur said a few weeks ago.

Calm down, Nosferatu!

We finished 5, 11, 11 and got to a euro QF and 2 domestic SF.

Horrific.

Much better to finish lower and end up out of the cups in January.

Calm down, Nosferatu!

I stand by the opinion that slot was the RS version of Bob. Did great with someone else's team then started to fall apart once he stamped his authority on things. Thw worst part is the RS saw this and got shut beforenhe did more damage

Re: Sir Bob

Posted by Zuma User icon on June 17, 2026, 7:49 pm, in reply to "Re: Sir Bob"

Did great with someone else’s defence, possibly, someone else’s team is harsh/inaccurate.

He transformed the midfield with McCarthy Barry and Barkley (I know Barkley was there already but Moyes never trusted him to actually play) and added Lukaku and Geri in attack with Rom being the best we’ve had in the PL era and Geri laying a lot of them on a plate for him. That’s 5 players he brought into the side who made us better.

Proper sliding doors moment when we almost signed van dead from Celtic but opted for funes mori instead, as he was cheaper, and then ended up paying a similar amount anyway once his agents fee became apparent.

Calm down, Nosferatu!

Re: Sir Bob

He had a twenty five point drop off from his first season. The squad was becoming more and more unfit and we were getting more and more soft tissue injuries.

Just because what came after was shite doesn’t mean he was good. The whole club was toxic in his last season.

Getting to semi finals means nothing, you may as well go out first round.
