I hated auditor's they had a knack of asking questions that you didn't want them to ask

I agree with this.

Take a YouTube Channel like Tom Scott for example he's basically creating and broadcasting highly popular mini-documentaries that are well researched and probably just as good as what you would get on telly. Those type of guys absolutely deserve the money they earn, and have managed to find a way to earn off it without having to go through the old industry gatekeepers.

If you have a dig there is some quality stuff on there and its a lot easier to find something that applies to your Niche interests be it Lego or Steam trains or Travel reviews or whatever stuff that would never get on telly.

Though I would imagine that those lads and Lasses would call themselves "content creators" rather than influencers.

There is an awful lot of grifting shite on there though, my main problem is when they don't declare if its sponsored, or they got the stuff for free, or they expect the stuff for free etc.

And the misinformation stuff bothers me as well, there are standards that have to be adhered to on telly and in my view the same standards should apply to video on social media if you are monetised on it. Not the lad who films the coach arrival at the ground who has 241 followers like, the ones that beat the threshold of getting money.

I’m not on instagram. Nor TikTok

Unfortunately one of them sits by me in the office

aye

No it doesn’t it makes you a requester. An influencer describes and often claims they use goods and/or services in an effort to get you to buy or use them.

Yes, yes it does

The problem isn't that these people exist. It's that anyone pays them the slightest bit of attention, let alone actually gives them cash. If they didn't get that attention, they wouldn't bother.

That Irish thumb bloke is a case in point. It absolutely baffles me that people who presumably can't (or can't be bothered) to go to the game make the effort to watch another bloke who can't be bothered to go to the game performatively emote for them on the internet, and send him money for the experience.

You can extend this to politics. The fact Reform and all those cunts exist is far less relevant than the fact people are actually listening to them and going "Yeah they're the lads for me". I don't understand the lack of critical thinking required to get to that point.

We'll get what we collectively deserve, as ever.

If influencer means your a social media obsessed biff, with verbal diarrhoea and love talking about yourself then yeah she’s defo one
