I've played football with Jason McAteer as a teenager (kickabout in Mersey Park). He still owes my mate a ZX Spectrum game he lent him. He also dislodged another mate Wayne from either Young Lions or Parkside by virtue of his father Billy having a word with the manager.

I went to sixth form college with former England rugby player (and member of the 2003 WC winning squad) Simon Shaw.
My mum used to go hiking with Ben Elton's mum.

Cropredy festival early nineties, wife and I went to the Japanese tempura van, just one guy standing there. It was Robert Plant. Said to my wife “that’s Robert Plant”. He heard me, turned towards us just as my wife loudly asked “whose Robert Plant?”. (She had no idea). He shook her hand and introduced himself…”I’m Robert Plant, pleased to meet you”. They had a little chat about how good the tempura was, then he left. Magical moment.

I used to drink with Shane MacGowan in Filthy McNasty’s Whiskey Cafe, in Islington, in the mid nineties.
At the time he drank pints of martini filled up with ice. He was forever shouting “more ice” to the bar, who would duly oblige and top him up. We thus nicknamed him “More Ice MacGowan”.
A little bearded Irish fella looked after the ale in there, he was known as “The Rabbi” and he kept some of the best Guinness in London.
Shane was playing in The Popes then, who played there a few times and various A List celebs used to hang around kissing his arse.
He was a mess for the most part.

He went on to invest a fortune into the club (Warrington Rylands) before falling out with them.

An Everton legend once asked Mrs. d_t out..... she told him to go home to his wife.
