Daughter off to Malia next week. Staying in hotel we stayed in last year (old town) so she knows the script. 10 of them and they don't seem as stupid as I was at their age (or now!)

Week later she comes to Spain with us for 10 nights. Living the life!

Definitely. The debt attached to going to university is a joke as well.

My missus has started her own business as a specialist teacher as being a full time teacher was wearing her down. She's still doing part time at the moment (but even that is more full time hours than I do!)

Daughter did digital media A level but AI is taking over.

I reckon she'd be better off being a spark, heating engineer, roofer....

You know, one of them trades that charges you a grand for half a days work!

Nice one Dave. Will do.

Cheers.

Sounds like he has landed on his feet (reading your post below), I've got two nephews, the older one is ridiculously bright and studied law and french at Oxford, qualified as a lawyer in a magic circle firm in London but jibbed it 12 months after qualifying as he didn't like it, he's now a civil servant and lives with his partner and two others in a shared flat in London. The younger one (who goes the match with me) got an apprenticeship in a factory in St Helens that makes cartons for take-aways, did one day a week at college and now at 25 is a fully qualified electrical engineer working in Jacobs, he has just bought a nice house and earns more than me!

For those reasons alone I'd prefer my daughter to do an apprenticeship rather than a degree but she hasn't got a clue what she wants to do, which is understandable as she's only just turned 16 and her only experience of work is two weeks waitressing in a restaurant.

She's a bright kid and makes friends easily so I'm optimistic she will make a decent fist of whatever career she goes into.

Has he got a cadetship with a marine agency or a shore-based job

I think that’s a great area to work in

Hopefully for your son it’s the start of an amazing career which may allow him to see the world
