Been using Wegovy

Posted by JonahEFC20 User icon on June 13, 2026, 10:26 am

Less than 3 weeks in and lost 16lb.

Unbelievable how it's stops you craving anything, definitely already changed how I look at food.

Started at 17st 10lb and now 16st 8lb.

Take my 4th dose on Monday then will move up to the next dose.

Haven't had any side effects yet either.

Well done for addressing your weight problems but taking these drugs is a bad idea IMO.
Eat healthy and exercise is always the best way.

Congrats mate. I lost 3 stone last year on munjaro.
I've been off it 12 months and despite a few spikes in weight, xmas, holidays etc I've pretty much kept my weight around the weight id managed to get down to.

The meds work great but also use your time on them the change habits, stop snacking, increase protien, strength training etc, in the long term and stick to them once your off the meds.
Lad i know can get reta, the new and more effective jab, and I've been tempted but it's off a mate of a mate so sounds a bit too iffy.

I did the Mountjaro first and then switched to Wegovy when that went too expensive. Didn't think the Wegovy was as good but lost 3 1/2 stone in all...it's good stuff, best of luck with it.

Yep mostly, seem to hover around the putting half a stone back on then losing it again if I tighten things up.

Did wanted to lose another stone and a half but don't think I will manage it now.

Congratulations.

I've lost a stone and a half in 3 months too. I did it by upping my walking, cutting out processed/sugary rubbish and eating more fruit, veg and healthy proteins.

No gimmicks or use of potentially dangerous non-sustainable short term nonsense like Wegovy and Mounjaro with potentially negative long term health effects - just simple, sustainably proven lifestyle choices.

You should give it a try sometime.

At the time that came out van Tulleken was involved in a documentary which showed that UPF manufacturers specifically designed combinations (Franken foods) that target the mesolimbic dopamine pathway.

They measured the effectiveness by doing brain scans while people were actually eating their poison. They're the same pathways that cocaine and heroin light up.

That's what we're dealing with. People peddling addictive drugs that debilitate and kill you.

You and your big words!

Behave - just eat less - it's simple!

(Agree 100%)

I found the most surprising thing from van Tulleken's research was how little impact exercise has on weight, it's like no more than 5%, supporting the old adage "you can't outrun a bad diet"

It's worthwhile walking after a meal to reduce blood sugar levels. Insulin is primarily a storage hormone and the pancreas produces it to lower blood sugar which it does by storing it as fat. Not all calories have the same impact on fat production.

Glucose is stored as glycogen in muscle so full body resistance workouts are a good way of stabilising it and preventing spikes.

Dr. Robert Lustig is a good advocate of the insulin model over the calorie one.

If you don't want to be fat - eat less.

So ...

If you don't want to be an alcoholic - don't drink alcohol.

If you don't want to be a compulsive gambler - don't gamble.

If you don't want to be a drug addict - don't take drugs.

Brilliant, just brilliant.

I reckon it’s the hardest addiction to give up, because you have to still eat. Like getting an alcoholic to have just the two beers on a Friday.

Re: Been using Wegovy

Posted by JonahEFC20 User icon on June 13, 2026, 10:58 am, in reply to "Re: Been using Wegovy "

Sometimes people have issues in their life that prevent them from having the required amount of time to increase exercise, join a gym etc.

I'd love nothing more than to have that spare time, but having a child with mental health issues makes finding that time extremely challenging.

That alongside both parents having 2 jobs each to get by also makes spare time extremely challenging.

Maybe keep your snidey comments to yourself next time.

Re: Been using Wegovy

Posted by Magnus_Pym User icon on June 13, 2026, 12:28 pm, in reply to "Re: Been using Wegovy "

I apreciate the time constraints but diet is responsible for 70/80% of weight loss isn't it so surely you have the small amounts of time to make simple, quick healthy meals and lunches rather than using unsustainable short term medical fixes which we don't know the potential long term harm in taking?

Good luck to you and obviously I hope you achieve your goals and are happy and healthy but I just find it bonkers people won't/don't/can't just make really easy, simple and sustainable lifestyle changes rather than resorting to potentially harmful fixes.

Formerly Kees_Popinga. Yeah, sorry.

Re: Been using Wegovy

Is right. Exercise has near zero effect on long term obesity other than giving someone something to do other than eating and reinforcing their health kick. Anyone who loses weight by 'burning them off' will realise that it's ultimately temporary unless they continue it, forever, and even then it won't work.

Diet choices.and when you eat is far more imokrtant.

Nah, I'm not having this as definitive.

I was thin when I walked everywhere, had a job that involved movement, played football/ 5-a-side twice a week, drank myself silly on my nights off and ate any old shite.

I got fat when I learned to drive, bought a car, worked a sedentary job and still drank myself silly on my nights off and ate any old shite.

Re: Been using Wegovy

Posted by betosneck User icon on June 13, 2026, 11:00 am, in reply to "Re: Been using Wegovy "

Fasting is incredibly healthy, especially if you keep your electrolytes topped up.

I'm kind of in favour of these injuctions for some pepople. Weight gain is a hunger thing, not a calorie thing or even (to an extent) a type of food thing.

If this controls the hunger, which is exactly what it's supposed to do and you can learn how to fast then great. It's just then a case of managing that when you come off

Re: Been using Wegovy

Posted by KS_Blue User icon on June 13, 2026, 10:50 am, in reply to "Re: Been using Wegovy "

In my experience, hunger just doesn’t exist when on them. You can still eat, it doesn’t make you feel sick at the thought of food and when you do eat it’s fine but when I was on it some days I’d eat Greek yoghurt, a bit of fruit and maybe a chicken breast and steamed veg for tea and that would be an effort.

I believe it slows down your digestive tract, the pharmacists in work had some training on it and have told me some snippets, I've had constipation as the only minor side effect, but that's normal.

I still eat stuff, but more healthy stuff and I don't get that mad hunger in between meals where I could eat a sharing bag of crisps and chocolate bar pretty much every night.

I'm trying to shift another 2 stone and I'll be happy at around 14 and half stone.

Re: Been using Wegovy

Posted by Heisenberg Blue User icon on June 13, 2026, 2:18 pm, in reply to "Re: Been using Wegovy "

Prunes and psyllium husk are proven effective for constipation in studies.

Some resistance training may be a better and more effective way of controlling total fat than cardio if you're short of time. In general aiming to control insulin response from the foods you eat is more effective than calorie counting.
