Blackbirds and crows

Blackbirds are black with a yellow beak but a crow is entirely black. Someone made a mistake when naming them.

Don’t get me started on the way things are named: since when has a white rhino been white?? It’s grey, the same as a black rhino. It’s madness.

I saw something about grey squirrels being shit scared of pinemartins because they attack and kill them. Because greys are an invasive species they see them as a threat and kill them. Whereas the reds are hardwired into their psyche as co-habotors and where pinemartins have been reintroduced into breeding programmes in Scotland and Wales the red population has flourished.

I think it's more that the red squirrels are quicker and can't be caught but the greys are big slow fuckers.

Blackbirds live by my garden, they are so daft they are funny, especially the young ones. They go after my strawberries and blackberries. If I walk down there is a young ones that just walks around the corner of the raised bed and hides. They drive me mad. They will grab a fruit, it will fall on the floor with one bite out of it, they ignore that and go after a different one. One of the buggers got in my shed yesterday and sat pecking a shut window for an hour until it noticed the open one.
The crows don’t often land in my garden. Apparently they prefer roadkill, small animals, insects and eggs.

The football game Subbuteo was so called because of a disagreement with the brand Hobby.

The hobby's (a small bird of prey) Latin name is Falco subbuteo. Might come up in a quiz one day.

ravens and rooks aren't as visible as crows. so crows should be called blackbirds. i am always astounded by the size of a raven.
