People will look at Jake O'Brien because he scored, and all of the other three defenders got cards, but Mykolenko absolutely wrapped up Antoine Semenyo in his pocket and said 'not today, sir'. Everything came down the other side for Manchester City in their 3-3 draw, nothing down his side. Fantastic, managed not to get booked and some big tackles in there.

You can take games in isolation where he's defended well against Salah etc but he has THREE assists in his Everton career.

As average as it gets.

He had a good game last night, but he's nowhere near what you want if you're serious about challenging for Europe, especially going forward.

Yeah agreed he's a danger in their half which is why we need someone else with basic competency. Whoever is in front of him Grealish, Ndiaye, McNeil or whoever need oppo players taking away from them by an overlap. Or even going inside.

When that Semenyo went down holding his head and their medical staff were treating him like he was about to die the replay showed it was his shoulder he caught surprisingly they didn't show the replay again

Like when Baines caught Walker on the shoulder years ago, and Sky only showed the angle which revealed this once, along with multiple replays from the misleading angles which made it look like he'd done him.

Myko is a very nice lad and hes "ok" at defending, I say ok because he often drifts in and leaves a right winger with space

But hes not a good footballer, his assists and goals tally over 5 years is shocking, Jake O Brien is almost catching up with him after 2 seasons of being played out of position on the right

Just watch how many times when he gets the ball he aimlessly gives it straight back to the opposition, its staggering, once we get a proper left back you will see a big change in our fortunes

The thing is, he always does okay against teams like that where his task is to just mark the winger.

However about 70% of the games in the season we need a left back who does more than the above, particularly supporting the winger. A new left back an absolute must for me (as with right back).

He's adequate. I've not seen him improve particularly from his first game 5-odd years ago, which either means he never will or he's already operating at the maximum his talent will allow.
Same thing I suppose.
Left back is about 6th in the list of priorities to be honest. Right back, striker (quite possibly two), replacement for McNeil (or at least someone to give him some space to get his head sorted), some kind of utility Alan Harper type who can fill in across a few positions, someone to replace Gueye when his legs finally fall off all above hiim in the pecking order. I'm not sold on Travers either if Pickford gets goosed. These are way bigger considerations than replacing a largely adequate but unspectacular left-back.

Sometime he does look like a good left back and I have never had any problems with his effort. But, if we are to be vaguely seriously challenging for champions league football next year we need two new fullbacks.

He’s a perfectly fine back up left back. Problem is we’re never bought a first choice.

He could fall into the we’ve got bigger problems elsewhere and he's still there a few more years. Howard was like this towards the end.
