Car Leasing

Anyone do this? Always bought mine, but considering leasing next time - anything to be aware of or any reason not to?

Have leased my last three cars, I’ve been offered to purchase two of them at the end of the lease too. Decent option as you know the full history of the car etc.
Just make sure you select yearly mileage that you do although the excess is that much per mile.

My Mrs got stitched up a bit - I think it was because she was giving the car back without getting a new one. To be fair there were a few issues (a dent in the door, someone had knocked her wing mirror) and the mileage was quite a lot over. However these type of things had been overlooked in the past, especially the mileage. They said if she wanted to return and not get another they wanted £3k off her. Unfortunately we didn't have the money at the time, so she had to get another one, but on worse terms. Fuming.

We’re leasing ours and I was a bit worried about going over the mileage but I found out each 1000 miles over is about £60, so I’ve relaxed.

Yes. Got a new omoda 5 in November.
Really good service.
Can return the car in 2 years.
Decent monthly price no real hassle.

I've had a few and so has the missus. She usually uses FVL (https://www.firstvehicleleasing.co.uk/) whereas I've used manufacturer ones (Kia, BYD etc).

Most of the time the return is fine - last one, a kia, I'd chipped the alloys a bit but because mileage was low they let me off.

She had a little trolley dent in one of hers that they charged her £50 or £60 on return.

Otherwise, they drop off the new car at the house and collect it 3-4 years later.

Yes

Used to do private lease and now do business leasing.

If you want to run a new or nearly new car it's the most cost effective way.

You only pay for the finance on the depreciation over the period you have it.

I have leased a couple of times and swapping my current lease for a new one in March. The giving back bit is the bit I dread with the assessment for minor bumps and scratches (which are impossible to completely avoid).

But on each occasion it has been ok tbh. Would say the bill on each one has been around £150 to £200. Obviously if you were selling your own car for £X amount of pounds you know the person coming to buy it is going to stroke their chin and offer you a few hundred less so it’s the same thing

cheers lid - thats the bit that worries me but as you say, 100 - 200 quid is palatable
