It sounds bad but aren't they just filling the stadium? Transfer your ticket and you are sorted, it's keeping the seat empty that they're punishing

I know there are still questions about transferring tickets but as we get used to the system more and more will do it if they cant attend. I can understand a death in the family will mean that getting rid of the match ticket is not a priority but for other reasons - holidays or cba - it will be easy enough.

They've got absolutely no chance of doing this at Everton. Even a Man City style rise to the top would bring limited international interest to the blues whilst that media hyped lot across the park still exist in our vicinity.

With PSR and whatever else they use to try and keep us from doing that we are going to be denied that kind of success no matter how well we are coached and managed too.

This season has seen the biggest interest in following the blues there has been in generations because of the new stadium, and not even half way through the season a lot of that interest has already dropped off due to prices, transportation issues, crap scheduling and cold weather.

Next season it will drop off further as the BMD effect wears off and these other issues refuse to go away.

A decent team and perhaps a trophy or two night ignite a load of us to get back in the habit for a short while but we just won't be able to sustain it long enough to create that general clamour for tickets from tourists and day-trippers that will make schemes like this work at Everton.

If that is the end game for the Friedkins then they've bought themselves entirely the wrong club at a time when its stadium capacity has just shot up to be more than it will need for the foreseeable future......better to concentrate their money making efforts on concerts and other one off sporting events.

West hame averaged 35k before they moved. They now average 62k.
EFC will be fine attendance wise.

I agree with a lot of that, but be under no illusion if everton had a regular top 4 side (stop laughing at the back) then it would be murder getting tickets.

But its not the 80s no more and thirty bob to walk up on a matchday and pay cash at the gate - £70 a pop to watch Barry strutting his stuff up top is enough for plenty to go "fück that, I think I'll watch it on the telly" So in that respect you're right, we don't have 70,000+ like Man Utd who would sell out in League Two. But we do have I reckon 35000 who would watch us in League Two, so it's not much of a stretch with a decent side to fill the place to the rafters, even with massively reduced season ticket numbers.

We can fill the place for sure, but only under the circumstances most of us are used to re ST prices and terms. If the club thinks they can fhuck all of that off to replace people with a queue of eager tourists then they are gonna be on a hiding to nothing with a very empty stadium.

I think the ground should be as big as the highest gate of the season. If that makes sense. Empty seats against Bournemouth are irrelevant if there’s 60 thousand there for the big matches

I am 63 years old and have taken early retirement after being made redundant. I have had a season ticket since the eighties but I am the upper limit of what I will pay for a season ticket. I am hanging on hoping the concessions for 65 + age group still applies in a couple of years but another significant price increase for next year will probably finish me as a season ticket holder.

Strange he doesn't seem to mention those two significant life events on or around the date of the two fixtures he says he missed. Even more he is moaning about Manchester Airport Terminal 3 just after the Chelsea game.

Season tickets in general will come under attack. Just not as profitable as a once a season day tripper. The issue is we do not have the fan base to do this. At the moment.

I think an awful lot of supporters around my age (54) and above, what with kickoff times and the general ballache of getting to and from the place, especially the pretty sizeable out of town element of the fanbase, are probably already saying to themselves with the £800+ I'm already paying for 19 matches, I might as well just pay £70-£100 say 10 times a season and pick and choose my matches. Obviously there's a bit of a gamble there losing your regular guaranteed seat, but it's probably a safe bet over the next 3 years or so. And the club would much sooner we all did that probably, so will be looking at ways of accelerating that process.

There is a huge gap between a lot of match day prices and season ticket equivalent match day prices too that they’ll be trying to bridge. Prices announced next month - should be interested

According to that, if you put your ticket on the resale, forward it on to someone, or give it to the foundation to pass on charitably, then that classes as you using the ticket, and so it doesn’t go against you, it’s only if you leave the seat empty for 4 games you are punished, I think that is fair enough. Obviously there may be extenuating circumstances and clubs should always review them individually first before taking their ticket, but if people are just jibbing it and not letting the ticket be used by someone else either, I think it’s fair enough for clubs to reclaim them rather than leave the seat empty, when there’s big waiting lists. There have been loads of posts on here this season about the number of empty seats being bad. If you can’t make it, lash it on the resale, then you won’t be punished, easy. Sometimes things happen last minute which clubs should always check about but there’s allowance for that to happen a few times a season.

Cancelling the ticket for this season is bang on though given he’s already bought it, and there should be just some kind of warning system.

They constantly move fixtures causing people problems and changes they can't make. If the fixtures were set in stone, they might have a miniscule point but let's face it, they just want to profit from it. Do you honestly think they are doing it to be fair to fans? They don't give a shite mate.

If they move it and you can’t make it, which is becoming more and more of a ballache for sure with the amount of tv fixtures, as long as you pass it on or relist it on the resale then it’s not a problem. People can’t complain about empty seats and lack of atmosphere and also be happy with people leaving their seats unused game after game whilst there’s people who can’t get tickets.

I totally agree he’s paid for it this season and it’s his to use as he pleases, they shouldn’t be taking it back off him and refunding him. Next season though, he’s not paid for or bought that yet, it doesn’t belong to him, if people aren’t using them then whilst there’s thousands waiting for season tickets I think it’s fair to say if you’re not using it and also not letting anyone else use it, leaving it empty, you lose it next season.

Whether the clubs motivations are around reducing the season ticket waiting list or freeing up more tickets for one off day trippers is a concern for sure. I’d only agree with the above on the proviso that the ticket goes to the waiting list, not turned into a non seaso seat.

Not when they don't sell on the resale or it closes 3 hours before kick off. That's also not taking into account the fixture changes where people can't make 8pm kick offs or Sunday games etc

That's all without taking into consideration they sell them back at top whack, kids, OAP's the lot and give you credit you can only use with Everton as opposed to actual cash.

I kind of get it a little (not the taking away of something he'd paid for though).
People have been moaning on here about the corpys having load of free seats and that unused ones should be made available to 'normal' fans
This is just that with season tickets, which is a bit more manageable as in whose arse should using the seat?

If they didn't charge to be able to transfer it (ie a membership) Id be more inclined to agree but as it is it just seems like a way to get rid of more and more season ticket holders than anything else which I assume is the end game for owners these days to make maximum coin.

Fellas pay a fortune, but still get the piss taken, due to cunts profiteering, with absolutely no comeback whatsoever. On the pitch, there are different sets of rules depending on which team plays, this happens in plain site, and fuck all will be said or done.

Totally agree, and the powers that be need to read the room on that one.

However, I also think they'd be confident of filling it if they could halve the number of season ticket holders and have the rest paying full seat value on a game by game basis. Even if a few thousand seats were empty they'd still probably bring in more revenue than with the present set up of 35000 season ticket holders (or however many it is) getting in for £40 a game.

It's food for thought like.

And what is equally alarming is the amount of people who will agree with the club policy on this. And whilst I get the argument that season ticket holders can just pick and choose when they turn up, surely a bit of common sense should prevail in this instance. It will be interesting to see how any subsequent appeal goes in this case - but you just know Sir Jim would rather lash the seat on Seat Unique and make a few hundred extra between now and May.
