Bar Ekitike and Isak they've signed worse players than they let go or already had. Diaz was miles better than Wirtz. They also don't know how to shoehorn all the new players in, long may it continue.

Blackburn also lost 4 on the spin in their first 9 games when defending the title 1995-96 after losing the Charity Shield to the FA Cup winners. They had 15 points after 11 games, which the shite would match with a home defeat to Villa followed by a loss to City at Eastlands. *Lumps on

Interesting. Just had a look and Blackburn finished 7th that season. Level on points but one place behind Everton.

We were labelled dark horses for the title after beating Derby at the Baseball Ground in December. Hopefully their rot has set in with an overpaid unbalanced squad mismanaged by an under pressure Slot. Some drop off if it has.

If I remember right that was 96/97, the following year, after Speed and Barmby had come in. Tyler said the dark horses for the title thing on the commentary.

Then that season went spectacularly sideways.

The year before, 95/96 when we finished above Blackburn, was the Kanchelskis season (96/97 sadly was the one when he underwhelmed then left). As you say we also won the Charity Shield against Blackburn with Samways' 'chip' that year.

I was a teenager at the time so had a laser-like memory for this stuff as it was my life at the time
