Had some hank standing up Everytime we were on the attack in the east upper. Were on the side, the equivalent of the upper bullens I suppose.

Anyway, I told him to sit down a couple of times, to the point he then started saying 'c'mon mate I've paid my money, can't be sitting down, might win this here'

Anyway, is the general consensus that I'm the knob or is he the knob?

Just to be clear, I wasn't that arsed, but it meant I had to stand up and there were kids sat behind me so I felt pretty bad for them.

I think part of the problem is you can't really pick your seat so people are going to be really mixed. I saw two old fellars struggling to the back of the south upper against West Ham too.

I'm hoping they switch it next time, so instead of a random seat ballot winners get a window to go in and pick their seat.

I think he is the knob. There are no obstructed views and what will standing up do other than obstruct the view for people behind.

One of the main issues with the new ground is that almost every view is perfect, too perfect in fact. It really shows up how shite we are at times.

Anyone standing up as the ball enters the penalty box, for a corner or on an Everton counter attack that looks open wide gets a pass from me when if that means I miss the action myself whilst I am getting to my feet.

Someone deciding they can hyat stand up for the duration in amy section regardless of everyone around them though is a selfish tit even if we are chasing the game.

ive gone from (mainly) top balc to (mainly) family stand.

defo more sitting down this season but people were on their feet more yesterday in the last 15.

its just a natural reaction to getting excited by the match. as long as you arent just standing around all the time i dont see the issue.

for balance it was the same in the TB - we get a corner or something is about to happen and people stand up. given the angle of the seating it was probably about the best comparison to the new ground.

Let people support how they want to, I say. If he stands, stand. I do understand some people can’t so it’s not an ideal catch all answer but in general, I just get up as well.

Not a problem with it if it's occasional and not all the way through the game, you see some clubs and it's for the whole game.

The place is like a morgue so I for one welcome a bit of standing up, ranting and raving etc.

Unfortunately it feels like a lot of people are going to their first game in years and don't really get that it's a football match, an opportunity to vent and not the theatre.

I sat in the upper Gwladys and there was a fella (probably mid 60s) that would constantly shout at people to sit down. It could be the 90th minute in the Derby with Everton pushing for a goal and he’d still aggressively tell people to sit down. He’d also go for a piss about four times every game, ironically forcing loads of people to have to stand up to let him out from the middle of a row.

He was an irritating cúnt. Luckily I sat behind him so wasn’t subjected to his forceful requests but he’d have been told to fuck right off if I was.

I think, generally, the situation dictates what’s acceptable. If it’s a close game and it’s a big moment then it’s fine and expected that people will stand up for a little bit. If someone’s just persistently standing and blocking someone’s view then they’re just being an inconsiderate prick and should rightly be told.

The situation yesterday was more he'd get up as the ball was in a good position, but then it would get passed backwards and he'd remain standing up when although we still had the ball it had gone back to 'normal' play.

I think this probably fits into your bracket, I was more prompting him to sit down as the standing moment had past.

And I had two kids behind me.

It's a bloody minefield but confident I was right.

Yeah, it sounds like he’s still standing up when the moment has passed and everybody else has sat down. Well within your rights to ask him to sit down if he’s doing it constantly.

Everyone stands up all game in the safe standing. I sit down when Everton are on the attack because, well you know, Barry and Beto play for us.

I’m aware that I’ve stood up a few times out of habit when we attack.

Was in the Lower Gwladys for more than 30 years. In East Stand upper so it will take me a while I think.

Nobody has shouted at me yet.

On the opposite of this there was a fella telling everyone else to sit down for the penalty.

Ok mate you dictate to the whole stand they need to sit down just for you.

I'm MPTEFC I'll park where I like.

I think this is exactly it, some people would have been pre programmed to stand up as they were in the park and or the gwladys. I've always been a main stand/top balcony person and these stander uppers are alien to me.

I don't think they do, unless you were behind the goals at goodison. I don't think standing up when the ball go into the final third was the norm anywhere else. I may be wrong like.

I used to be Gwladys St then mainly main stand the last few years. Always been the case in those places. My lads when they were younger always had to stand on the seats and often missed goals when everyone stood up.

Maybe didn't happen in the upper tiers as much

Interesting all this, I never really thought about it yesterday. I'm right near the back now so not sure why he needs to stand up, but assume it's just habitual.

He was the only one in the row that I could see doing it. Will give him the benefit of the doubt.

It just means people brhind can’t see or also need to stand up.
