Couple of things:-

1 - would love the club to say tothe corporates that a condition of getting these tickets you have to be pitchside for the full game time. Looks terrible when there are loads of empty seats for about 20 minutes out of the 90.

2 - couldn't believe how many people were leaving from 88 mins onward. I know the trains are a headache but it's a tight game and we're pushing for a winner.

3 - absolute loved the atmosphere once that Pino biff stood infront of Garner for his freekick.

Number 1 could be sorted by just making the food / ale bars bigger with more staff. People were still in a very long queue for hotdogs just as the second half was starting (east stand upper). Also, maybe a 'the second half is about to start' announcement may give people a little nudge, as you can't hear fuck all from inside the stadium when you're on the concourse.

I get point 1 but they'd probably point to the rest of the ground (and indeed the whole of Goodison in the past) and argue that it doesn't apply there so why should it elsewhere. Admittedly, I'd rather be able to down dead on the whistle and know I had time for a pint and a piss before the whistle blows again but it never happens.

Not sure I've heard any players comment on the atmosphere yet, would like to hear their take on it and how it compares to Goodison.

I don't we'll see it properly until our fist big night game. It was quiet for most of yesterday, as it was for every single early Sunday kick off at Goodison.

Yep. Newcastle half 5 on the sat'dee in November has the potential, especially if a decision goes against us early doors. Early Sunday kick offs are always shite unless it is a cup quarter final or the derby.

Re no 2. Irritated me that, hope it’s not the norm. Arsenal fans had form for that when they moved to the Emirates.

Getting away from the ground is not that bad for most it would seem. Would they rather not stay in case we win it?

#1, pretty easy to enforce really, just stop serving ale in the corporate bars ten mins before kick off, gets everyone heading back to their seats.

Having said that, I was in the restaurant for the Mansfield game and there were a couple of lads on the table opposite me, who never left the restaurant at all during the match.....happy to just take onboard as much free-flowing ale as they could manage.

Not sure they'll get as much corporate business when the corporate bonuses are stopped at certain times though mate.

Just fuck the corporates off and fill it with fans. "Oooh were still shite but got an extra 20 million a year from selling prawn sarnies. Huzzah"

Ive never understood this us and them distinction made between 'corporate' fans and 'real' fans as I reckon 95% of people in the posh seats are just ordinary fans like you and me who have all done their time on the terraces home and away over the years and are just lucky enough to be in a place in their lives where they can afford to pay a bit more in return for a better experience.

I did the same myself for the Mansfield game and would do so every week if I could afford it.

I wasn't robbing a 'real' fan of their god given right to watch that match instead of me and I know at least one 'corporate' who has paid for his and a couple of other family members seats in one of the lounges at Goodison for donkeys years. Before that he was a normal ST holder and this year hes not only had the price of an equivalent seat triple in price e but he's had to commit to THREE years upfront to secure it.

I'm sure he's not looking for any plaudits for this and recognises the fortunate position he finds himself in, but I am pretty sure he also wouldn't appreciate his contribution to Everton being less 'real' to that of an ordinary ST holder because of some bizarre reverse snobbery going on.

Tbh they're not mate, see Michael's post below.

For my part I know several businesspeople who are Liverpool fans( including my best and oldest friend who was best man at my wedding who is a lifelong STH at Anfield) who have bought corporate seats to entertain clients similar to what Michael is talking about below.

My mate went to the Villa game with his son (my godson) to try the seats out. As Michael says, the corporate thing isn't aimed at Blues with money, it's aimed at businesspeople who need to entertain clients. If some are Blues with money then sound, but most won't be.

My mate has six corporate seats in the west stand (behind the away dugout) which his company pays for on expenses. He has to entertain clients at the games, most of whom either aren’t really interested in footy or support other clubs. £7,600 per seat for the season and they had to commit to three years. Total cost of the tickets was £137,000, which works out at about £400 per game for each seat.

Not everyone in there will be a casual spectator but there are certainly quite a few of them from what he’s told me. He’s said I can have a ticket for some games when clients don’t take them up, so it’ll be interesting to experience it. No chance I’d pay £400 for it, though.

Ok, I'll give you an example based on my experience of corporate last year.

I had a freebie at united in the corporate.

We were the better team for 35 minutes but Branthwaite and some others had an absolute nightmare and we were 2-0 down at 45 minutes so we went down to get our ale and seat.

By the time my backside hit the seat it was 3-0.

We (4 of us) stayed downstairs and drank free ale instead of go and see the second half.

4 empty seats and I would never have stayed down at 3-0 down had it not been for the free ale and posh seats.

I've seen plenty of people jib it off from the Lower Gwladys at similar stages though. Only difference here is they've gone the Winslow/Brick/Oak etc. for their ale rather than getting it free still in the stadium.

By your own admission it was a freebie, your behaviour is very much effected by how much you personally had to fork out to see it....I guarantee if you'd paid anything like the price that seat cost you would've made sure you saw some of the game.

But all in all you are making huge assumptions about higher tier matchgoers that simply aren't true. The vast majority of them have paid their own hard earned in order to be there and aren't on some free jolly. Also of those that are there, not all are purely there for the ale or the prawn sandwiches, sometimes it can just be having access to a seat that doesn't require queuing at a bar ten deep in order to get any refreshment, somw will want something that's a bit warmer in winter than your standard stadium concourse, where half time means a chance to go back inside and just warm up with a brew for ten minutes. Some will want an ace view with plenty of room around them for comfort and that in itself can have many reasons not just because you they can't be arsed with a normal seat.

I just dont get this reverse snobbery when it comes to 'corporate' fans, yes some will be ridiculosyl entitled bellends but most will not and lets face it, you dont have e to be rich or posh to be a bellend.

There's loads of spares for their ilk at the equestrian world championships.

I would prefer it if it went back to just going the match with the.lads, having a pint and barely mentioning the game after.

Now it's a match day "experience" to go and watch a "project" surrounded by "day trippers" with half and half scarves and covered in blue icing.

We were better cos we were different, now we are the same.

Why can't it be about both? Why look down your nose at someone who wants a different experience to the one you want? Why does it have to stay the same as its always been forever? Or do you expect the next generation and the one after that to all meekly follow the matchday habits of fellas that have long since passed because 'that's the way we always have done it'

No ones looking down their noses and the next generation can go about it however they choose. Its just not for me really. The matchday experience should be what Teddy has posted above for me. Too many daytrippers/corporates and beauts needing to be seen to be at a "Premier League" game has turned a lot of it sterile in my rubbish opinion mate. Give me your average council estate lads who go the match over the wining and dining biffs anyway of the week. The fact it stayed as a working man's game for 100 years should mean something rather than them now being priced out of it. Cant afford to take 2 or 3 kids the game but some belter can pay 300 quid to have a nice meal just doesnt sit right. Go the theatre and stick yer 30 quid glass of wine up yer arse lads.

You won't be surprised to know I feel the opposite. I'd much rather sit there next to some fella sipping on his Chadonnay and creating no atmosphere than have my ears assaulted by some possed up bellend constantly whining at his favourite boo-boy and bringing the atmosphere down for everyone around them...amd doing so because being a 40 something fatty who used to be sce at five-a-side wgo has paid their money they instinctively know what it takes to be an elite sportsman and they ate entitled to their opinion no matter who else around them is cringing at every syllable.

Of course I am being obtuse and the vast majority are not like that, but by the same token the vast majority of corporates dont fit your description either.
