Police keeping traffic lights on red

On Great Howard street after the game. Anyone know why? They've not done it for the other games, caused chaos

They used to do it on the junction of the drive and Walton Hall avenue and then townsend years ago.

Not sure if they did last 15 or 20 years.

I was on the bus back to Kirby at the lights for ages. Seemed daft

Was it to let car parks clear a bit?

no idea but when i hear about things like this i am reminded of the time i was at the big junction near the uni and a police van pulled up alongside me, waited like me at the red traffic light for about 15 seconds, then put the blues on with the siren, went across the junction then turned them off.
