I started my first job at the Halifax Building Society on Dale Street becoming the first member of my Family to go to work in a suit and tie. A lot of jobs on my CV since those times. About 15 pints for a pound in those days. Unbelievable Jeff.

A lad I worked with was in Faron’s Flamingos we used to go to the Cavern at lunchtime and saw the Beatles many times with Pete Best on drums.A Shilling to get in.

What a superb memory in your life that must be.

To be able to say, you've seen probably THE biggest, most famous, most influential act on the planet, with such relative 'ease'. A lot of people must be envious of your teenage years.

Tony as you probably know I was in the same class as Bill Kenwright. McCartney and Harrison were also there but a couple of years older than me.And to top it all while I was at school the r/s were in the 2nd division.

My first pint, in 1968, was 2s/10d. Double Diamond downstairs in the Croc on Harrington Street, then next door downstairs in the Pen & Wig, across the street for another in the Why Not. Not a bad start.

56 years ago at the end of the school year, a 16 year old me finished school on the Friday and started work in a tiny repro firm making plates for printers in Whitechapel on £6 a week. Crap money, but years later the union ticket got me big wedge in London.
