The new Everton looks quite a lot like the old one.

Think we'll be fine this season, but why are we still in this parlous position with a weak and unbalanced squad with two weeks left in the window? No full backs, no right winger and a centre forwards who can't control a ball?

How many times have we been through this shit? Stupid pricks.

This is our biggest long-term issue. It saps about a quarter of the season fairly regularly, there doesn't seem any actual point in us having pre-season games other than to keep up appearances because it seems the last 4 season at least the 'plan' for the first game has been cobbled together that afternoon.

Benitez was the last time we even scored on day 1.

A load of people called this as well and you get the “bed wetter” stuff chucked at you or “pre season games don’t matter” when they clearly do.

The transfer window needs to be closed when the season starts. Or removed altogether. It’s become box office now but it has negative impacts on a lot of clubs.

Yeah its a shocking rule and wearily to even bother saying, as its so obvious and the case withe everything, only has any upside for the biggest six.

A joke watching the two sky games on Sunday, 90% of what the coverage was was transfers and getting Palace's good players off to any of the six.

Just don't see how its supposed to lead to a good 'product' but I think people are even less arsed than they were a few years ago - as long as they can wang on about NEW FACES AT THE BRIDGE they're happy

Moyes is getting paid millions of pounds and can hide behind a lack of transfers whenever he picks an outrageously shit team and formation like he did last night - he won’t be arsed in the slightest. The bad refereeing decision is the cherry on top as well, he can just bang on about that rather than us barely having a shot all night against a newly promoted team.

It's not solely on Moyes though, mate. This is a collective failure. He's told us constantly that we don't have enough players. Of course he will have to accept sone of the responsibility, but not having people in place to sort these deals was unforgiveable really.

Thelwell should have been kept on this summer given the sheer number of out of contract players. You can't just allow that many to leave and then have to set up a whole new recruitment team on the hoof. It's beem really poorly handled in my opinion. I expect it will come out in the wash, but we'll drop points directly because if it. We already have. That line up was a shocking mess. Terrible.

I'll agree on the players but that doesnt mean the ones we have cant be coahed and given tactics to at least try to win a game against Leeds..Thats on him that bnot the board .

Well put OTM. The timing of the Thelwell change was a major surprise in the circumstances. By all means change him out, but on a phased basis. No wonder the recruitment (and lack of given what we need) has looked haphazard.

I think he did well by and large. Getting Ndiaye in was a real piece of work given the circumstances we were in at the time. It was a long term target secured with work done over a long period. He will have had other targets for those problem positions but they will have been iced when he left. Poor decision for me, that. Really poor.

That was a Kenwright regime modus operandi though, when we were potless.

There's no excuse not to have a right back in place. That whole side has been a priority for years. Mylolenko isn't good enough for me either. He's functional, but nothing more. It doesn't look like Aznou is anywhere near ready to contribute either unless he's got a knock, so that's both full backs, central midfield, striker and right wing we need. Fucks sake!
