How does this work?
35m for an established England International Centre half. The offload Quansah for 20 odd who's absolutely shite.
Also we are told we need to cough up 45m for a lad from Southampton who's barely done a thing. Its all very odd. You could easily get 50-60 million for Guehi.

He was nowhere near as good for England as the media would have people believe and was at fault a few times, including in the final.

Guehi going to the RS guarantees him the starting CB slot for England though. Which knocks JB down the pecking order, even though we all know he should be second name on the teamsheet.

Guehi will become a £150 million world class Rolls Royce defender overnight once he dons their shirt.

Konate has too many moments where he looks like an accident waiting to happen. Can look very effective then all of a sudden an utter liability. Personally think Geuhi is the steadier defender and it pains me to say a good signing if the shite get him.

No. Admittedly I've only ever really watched him for England in whatever the last tournament was, but whereas everyone else was raving about him because he made one or two last ditch tackles, i thought he was positionally awful.

No doubt he's ironed that out now and will be prime baresi/maldini/nesta for them, but i don't think he's any better than that other French lad they've got at the back.

But if he's available at less than market value they'll swoop. Seems to be a big part of their transfer strategy now.

Who else have they bought at less than market vale?

It's the opposite, they seem to have paid massively over the odds for Etikite, the winger and the left back.

To suggest they pay under the market value as part of a strategy would hint at them only shopping in the bargain basement.

Mate I'm a fully paid up member of the 'stop trying to hoodwink everyone into thinking you're paupers when you spend shitloads and always have' society. I've argued this with them for years.

But over the last 12 to 18 months they are defo looking to take advantage of the release clause and coming to end of contract thing.

I'm not saying I think they are getting bargains but they have defo paid under the market value for a few because of clauses.

Macallister, gravenberch, kerkez, frimpong, guehi if they get him, even that keeper they signed for 25 mill last season then loaned him.

And then there's the kids they constantly steal off other academies because of contract situations.

It's a targeted approach.

Looking at young players with contract issues that they know will have a good re-sale value even if they bomb.

It's clearly not an exact process as they have paid shitloads for ektike and the German fella but it's something they are defo looking to take advantage of and are clearly tapping these players up from a fair distance out.

Only a year left on his contract. We were offering in the £60m's last summer. It's astonishing that they got £30m for Quansah and are paying £35m for Guehi. Almost a straight swap.

I'm absolutely convinced this goes beyond surface transfers, and there's behind the scenes agreements. Not a chance we would get Guehi for even £40m.

The RS transfer premium works both ways. Clubs are happy to bend over and pay a premium for their shite and the RS seem to tap up players of smaller clubs so they never get involved in an auction.

They're run properly and have been for years.

They absolutely coin it in with TV deals, CL qualification and commercial streams.

Plus they've recouped a fair a chunk of their summer outlay through player sales.

Their broadcasting revenue is off the scale. We tend to think of it as Sky and BT etc but the worldwide broadcasting revenue is absolutely huge.

One of the worst and stupidest things that the clubs in the league voted for was to not pool the broadcast rights anymore.

It was fucking obvious who would be on telly every week (they always were - pretty certain their fanzine back in the late 80s was called when Sunday comes as a nod to the fact) and now they get more money for the national broadcasters to act as their marketing dept.

Hard to see how they'd manage it in incoming transfers but I definitely think you've got something on outgoings.

Flog a minor squad player for 15m above his real value to a friendly club and get one of their 'people' to sponsor that club's official toothpaste for the difference in value.

Looks great on everyone's PSR and the media will always play ball by spouting about how talented this is castoff is so friendly club's fans get all excited and dont realise they are being had off.
