Not much more than what we've saved on Doucoure and DCL combined wage surely? They would have been on close to £200k (sick in mouth) between them?

The new stadium is going to quadruple revenue every year, once we start getting concerts, weddings and bar mitzvahs in there we'll be fine for paying a bit more for top class players.

There was something on a news today - I cant remember where as I was half asleep as it was about 5 am - and I am sure they said there would be no events such as weddings. A quick google shows that they are going to have them.

They won't be on peanuts either.

The wages on those who have left and those who have joined probably balances out.

If it was that straight forward in signing Grealish it would have happened by now.

they won't, but they won't be on as much as DCL and Doucoure.
Grealish will be about getting the least we can pay on wages which makes sense rather than just getting him now at any cost. If we can knock 50k-100k off a week that's a massive saving over the season

City's demands over Grealish's wages will drop by the day as deadline day looms and the concept of paying him £300k a week to do nothing gets very real.

No one is coming close to paying the full whack, he's just not that player any more. They may not accept us contributing £100k a week today but they will on deadline day.

exactly it's not a case of getting it done like yesterday, it's a waiting game to get the best value for us, if as it seems he's keen on coming to us anyway

It’s a myth that getting rid of players ‘clears the wage structure’ it depletes the squad and the wages will only go back up again once the squad grows. Also, there’s always gonna be a couple of Hollywood signings in the squad surely. It’s all a load of shite

it's not a myth if you get rid of big money earners and bring in players on less money (Grealish aside)
I doubt any of our recent signings come close to what DCL, Doucoure and Holgate were earning with the possible exception of Dewsbury Hall

because we're not in the market for top end players at the mo.. Pay reasonable wages and finish mid-table simpler.

Yeah but the point stands, to improve, there’s no escape from upping the wages. It’s a myth you can clear the wages, and go from strength to strength. It’s a route to oblivion

eventually yes. But at the minute we've got rid of two of the biggest earners (one who hardly played and one who was getting worse with age) and replaced them with younger players in Barry and Alcaraz who will hopefully be better and on less wages

They’ve been paying most of Holgates 70k a week at various loans for the past few years. Fucking hell!
