It's really hit home that things will never be the same again today.

Feels like a different club. For the corporates not the people.

Not a pop at Everton, a pop at the way football is now.

Saying all that, if we win a few games it'll all feel a bit better.

I wasn't keen on the whole experience really.

I was in chicago and Atlanta and its no doubt the American matchday experience is the model.

That said people seem to love it. I was surrounded by happy shiny people yesterday. There was giant queues for insultingly overpriced food and drink ( most i paid last year for a pint was 6.40 at Arsenal) so possibly the most exoensive ground now. But people kept telling me how great it was.
I was 2nd row south upper, the seat in front jammed in to my knees, the people in front where non stop up and down (I'm hoping thats because it was a friendly) and one of the women in front glared at me for shouting ' oh fuck off ref '.

I'm thinking of writing to club asking if I can move my seats .

By the way the Atlanta stadium was the real deal just jaw dropping.
Cost twice as much as BMD though.

It’s a false atmosphere at the moment. Wait till the game has to be won and the decisions go against us. It’ll soon come to life.

Got absolutely sick and tired of overhearing people saying yesterday 'it was better at Goodison'.

The concourse were always chocker at Goodison, the toilets were always chocker at Goodison, getting in/out was always difficult at Goodison.

I loved and miss the old place as much as the next blue, but let's not make it out to be some sort of utopian dream that it wasn't just because we dont like change eh.

The bogs were better,agree. The getting a pint or food was no different (possibly worse). You want a pint you're still going to have to go down on 35 mins, unless they can get it sorted. Hopefully they will.

It has been romanticised to a ridiculous degree. It was a dump. It was wonderful on those great occasions. Fortunately we managed to get a few in its final years. Real iconic moments but on those days when it was rubbish you only had to look around to see how tired and rundown it was. We could have stayed but it would have ended badly.
It was catching up financially. Imagine if we were still there this summer given the level of spending we’ve seen this summer at the monied clubs. We’d be even further behind.

Agree with all of that but its still the game that's gotten poisonous not Everton

I'm nearly 72 and have been going to Goodison since I was four so you'll forgive me for romanticising the place...it's part of my childhood, adolescence and adulthood - I've declined in relevance alongside the place

I’m the same. Its been a part of my life since I was child playing in Stanley Park in the 1960s
We have to move forward. A lot has been lost but we really are one of the grand old teams of the game.
We’ve watched every team modernise while we’ve become a heritage day out for away fans. It’s no longer ‘The Wembley of The North of my youth. We should be at the forefront of the game
. I don’t know if that’s possible but we have to try. We won’t know how important the new place is until we see it in full flight.
That’s when we’ll find out how good the place is. A pre season friendly is no time to pass judgement.

Agree with all of this. What we do need to stop doing is trying to compare the new place with Goodison. They are two very different places, from two very different times

The club has a tradition of innovation when it comes to this stuff and we've lost our way on that score over the last 30 odd years. I'm so proud that for once Everton are back where they belong on at least one front

I honestly think people purposely join the biggest queues they can find instead of moving to the next one.

Depends on where you were. Outside block 215 there were two male bogs either side of the exit. One was small and got filled quickly, but my brother went in the other one and said it was three times as big and relatively empty.

Queues on the concourse caused it to be chocker in places near to the bars, but move away to other sections and it was really empty.

I think if they put up some of the zig zag queuing lanes to manage the bars and people start getting used to the layout it will eventually feel a lot easier.

I think some of the toilets could've been planned out better to allow more capacity but yes the queuing is likely something that will ease over time as people get used to the stadium.

At the moment it's all new and people tend to head to the nearest thing they can see. As people learn where everything is hopefully the queues will disperse around the rest of the stadium.
And as long as they're not employing completely new staff every game the beer service should improve and speed up.

Well I was a bit underwhelmed in that respect to be honest. I thought ergonomically this ground would be light years ahead of Goodison in that respect. It wasn’t.

Definitely....I think I always perceive things as being better when I was younger.....the world is quite sterile and samey these days compared to 20 years ago.....going to Goodison always felt like a bit of a throwback to those days (for all its faults).....not sure I'll get used to this new Everton... saying that, I find it harder getting used to the the world in general these days....all my own fault, gives me plenty to moan about though.

The opposite for me, especially this season, I swerved so many matches last few seasons but will be a while before i do that here, possibly because more mates have tickets and in different areas mind.

This. It will have to be decent on the pitch to fill BMD continuously. If it's shite we won't get as many in there as Sunderland do I'll wager.

We will.

Sunderland count the amount of tickets sold not actual people in the ground. Season tickets were cheap enough last year for people not care about the cost of missing games. I know a bloke who lives down here he has 4 season tickets and frequently doesn't use any. He said one attendence given as 48000 was more like 25k.
