if you don't like something, don't watch it. theres loads of stuff on telly i don't like and i choose not to watch like Tennis, motor racing, bargain hunt or coronation street for example.

people seem to have been programmed by The Man to watch any and all football on the telly. and then when it might not be exactly the same as the mens game get a bee in tehir bonnet about it. what womens sport is exactly the same as mens? i can't think of any. in athletics, the womens 100m record has stood for nearly 40 years and is around a second slower than the men - does that difference make it rubbish?

just don't watch if you don'tlike it. easier for you and everyone around you.

Aye havent watched it, but cant understand the moans about it, same when women present mens footy shouldnt it be their knowledge of the game rather than if theyre a man or a woman

I used to watch and enjoy it. I didnt care about the quality. I enjoy watching 2 school teams playing in the park. I dont expect Barcelona. What spoiled it for me was when they politicised it with this equal pay shyte.

The equal pay stuff is massively misrepresented though.

It seems to be made out that lets say Georgia Stanway should be paid the same as Harry Kane at Bayern Munich. That's not the case at all (It doesn't even make sense because not all men are paid the same amount either).

The big fuss was about the compensation/playing fee and prize money being offered to the women in comparison to the men. A lot of women still are part time or don't earn massive amounts so they need adequate compensation for representing their country to cover their costs.

It's a big tournament, and it's an England team that has actually won something in living memory - so I'll watch them all day long.

Some of the defending was non existent at times (see: both Sweden's goals) and the shootout was painful to watch - but there was some good stuff mixed in there as well.

The nice thing about the women's game is that it feels more like a sport rather than the bloated commercial cash cow that the men's game has become?

Yeah agree with that.
The other post basically nailed it when it said they were likeable.

There's elements of the snidery and shithousery creeping in (or "professionalism" depending on how you want to look at it), but at the moment it's a decent spectacle.
It's a tiresome thing to take a male version of a sport as a baseline and then compare every other iteration against it. Not sure why that should be the case really.
It can and should (and to an extent does) just exist on its own I reckon.

Yeah I don’t see threads every day moaning about what is on this mythical prime time tv slot.

Who even sits down at 8pm anymore demanding to watch live tv and be entertained. Streaming services killed all that bollocks. It’s just a cheap way for some balloon to air his stupid gripes.

Anyway, it would be prime time tv because women make up roughly half the population and loads of them want to watch it.

It’s simple stuff this and people railing against it don’t like being questioned when their stupid views are challenged.

I watched a fair amount of it and as I said below i found it more interesting than a lot of Everton games last season. It is what it is.

I hope the women's game goes from strength to strength and I have been to a few games myself.

However, I won't seek it out any more, it's just not the game I want it to be at the moment, it has flashes of good stuff but the quality overall isn't something I want to waste my time on. I coach a grassroots team and a couple of our girls are now with Liverpool, they are really good and I hope they continue to improve, which I am sure they will and so will the women's game in general. I won't slate it, I just don't watch it as you suggest. I can as well though, have a laugh at those penalties. Hilarious. Let's put that down to nerves and not having a uterus. We've all seen the men shit their kecks plenty of times.

In short, the quality's not quite there yet, so they should say so when talking about it and not ignore the fact, especially when it is shown on prime time TV and billed as something incredible.

Surely this begs the question of what you’re comparing it to?
It’s women’s football which will never be men’s football so is it fair to compare the two rather than just accept it for what it is?

When you say 'quality' are you talking about pace and power? I'd say skill level and tactical awareness are about the same.

The annoying thing is that if it had not been for the morons in the 1920s banning womens teams from top clubs for 50 years they probably would be as good.

I was going to say if not as strong but watching some of the acting from some of the male players it is less relevant.

Absolutely this.

THere are some women's sports I find better to watch than men's (Footie, Tennis (before the Williams sisters turned it into a slog fest), Gymnastics, Boxing). There's some where there is no difference for me (Golf, Cricket) and some where I prefer to watch the men.

It's all down to personal preference and no need for the constant attempt for the women to justify themselves against the same standards as the men.

The comparison thing always comes up from the female side because of the equal pay and coverage issue, lets be honest. That then starts a debate from the other side.

I'm a bit bored with it all, personally. The back and forth over it, I mean. If you like it, watch it. It's fine. If you dont like it, don't watch it. That should be fine too. I'd also suggest that if you watch it and then say you don't like it, that should be fine as well. People are allowed an opinoon. Everyone just needs to calm down about this shit. It doesnt make you better than everyone else just because you watch it/like it and vice versa. People are pricks about most things in life, Everton included. It really doesn't matter that much unless it's genuinely unpleasant or over the top stuff.

They really need to do something about the framing of the women's game as equal to the men's game, it's just not there yet. They're doing themselves no favours trying to compare it as you will get the likes of me here telling them it's not and sounding like a twat.

I agree. I think they could start by not stating fixtures as being the same. How often do you hear the BBC claming Arsenal have beaten Chelsea in the FA Cup?

I've fallen foul of this a few times when I think to myself "I didn't even know they were playing each other today" only to then realise it's a women's match.

I know what they are trying to do by not making the distinction it is trying to put the women's game on an equal platform, but its just getting people's back's up instead.

In individual sports it's not a problem because the names referred to are clearly male or female, but in a team sport you need to know which version of that team is being referred to, just to save confusion if nothing else.

This is my sole gripe with it.

Catching the sky sports 'bar' or whatever they call it and seeing

'Everton sign Japanese international' and getting briefly excited only for it to be the women's team.
