Flower streets were originally tidy little terraced houses. An awful lot of the have suffered with subsidance, due to being mostly built on a bed of sand (hence Sandhills station), built in the same area. They housed a lot of the original staff from the likes of Tillotsons, British American tobacco, Tate and Lyle etc. Now, there's quite a few houses been bought by private landlords, who put literally anyone in them, as long as rent gets paid, by hook or by crook. As a result, the strong community spirit that once existed in the area, has now mostly disappeared. The murals are very good. The area itself, not quite as good.
