I think it’s important people try to look past the short term results and see the bigger picture. There were loads of indicators that things were improving under Dyche before the results clicked, and a context of a host of restrictions and bad history to overcome. Thats why I found the criticism of him not so long ago to be very harsh indeed.

There will absolutely no doubt be sticky patches to come - maybe even very soon.

Ultimately we, and Dyche, are always up against top professionals and a 5% dip, a couple of injuries or just a bit of bad luck could see momentum lost very quickly.

So, hopefully when we do inevitably hit a bad spell, people will react in a measured way about it.

Whatever happens though, this fella clearly knows what he’s doing, and is massively invested and proud to represent Everton. That earns him a truckload of patience from me anyway, especially when we have zero poke or realistically better alternatives.

I think a fair bit of the criticism was a stylistic thing anyway. There are more romantic fans aren’t there, who like the aesthetics and want a certain type of football.

For me, we’re a footy team in Walton, direct footy with some intelligent aggression and loads of blood and snot is probably what most of us want when it comes down to it.

Class how you’re giving him due credit now though, fair play.
