None of our selections gave us a return yesterday.

    Today's Selections:

    2.50 - Ludlow - Oscar Asche. 2.5 pts win. Available at 4/1.

Only six runners for this Novices' handicap over hurdles but there is only eight pounds between them on Official Ratings and only two points between the field at current prices. Four of the six runners make their handicap debuts, Nautical Star, Exod'ela, The Newest One and Oscar Asche. Of those Nautical Star and Oscar Asche would appear to be on the most favourable marks based on performances so far and preference is for the latter. Oscar Asche was well beaten (23 furlongs and an extended 23 furlongs) faced with stiff tasks in two Novice races in November/December but found major improvement over this C/D in a Maiden race last time out. The first time cheekpieces may have been responsible but, although it's a bit early to make assumptions, he won his Point going right-handed and may have a preference for going clockwise. He is bred to stay so with the likes of Nautical Star and Electron Bleu in the field he should get the pace he will need to be seen to best effect. The three pound Claimer who was on board for the first time last time out is retained and he represents a yard who have won with their last four runners at this track.

    3.25 - Ludlow - Bobo Mac. 2.5 pts win. Available at 4/1.

As with the preceding handicap this Chase also has six runners and five of the six are separated by just a 1.5 points at current prices. Most have something to recommend them but they also have one question or another to answer. Roll Again was a three length winner here in December but subsequently fell at Kempton eight days later and was well beaten in a Grade Two Novice at Warwick last month. Another Venture went close on his reappearance at Chepstow, a performance which was almost a career best over fences, but has been well beaten at Cheltenham since, albeit in a better race than this one. Cap St Vincent has won four of his nine starts over fences but he only got home narrowly in a lesser race last time out at Taunton and is five pounds higher here. He could also find some of these staying better than him. Station Master would be a strong choice on most of the form he showed last season but he ended the campaign on a low note and he has shown little in two outings this season. He also has to prove he handles this soft. Head To The Stars may not have stayed over 29 furlongs at Warwick last time out (travelled well into the latter stages) and would be of interest on his close second at Bangor on his penultimate outing. However he has yet to get his head in front over fences and he doesn't particularly appeal at his current price. That leaves Bobo Mac, who has returned this season in good heart. He was an almost three length winner on his reappearance over an extended 25 furlongs here in November and was three lengths behind the aforementioned Roll Again from a ten pound higher over this C/D the following month. He was behind Head To The Stars at Warwick last time out but, like that horse, he didn't appear to stay the trip in the testing conditions. Back in trip today he is seven pound better off with Roll Again and, although he may not have pretensions to being well handicapped, he has no questions to answer concerning trip, ground or track and he is still a relatively lightly raced Chaser.

    4.00 - Ludlow - Win My Wings. 1.25 pts e/w. Available at 10/1.

    5.00 - Ludlow - On The Quiet. 1.5 pts e/w. Available at 9/1.
