Yes it is down to quality, but if you go back to when we were proper 'a big club' close to winning stuff, breaking British transfer records, or even finishing in and around the top 6, whether that be 70s, 80s or even part of the 90s we would expect to beat the promoted teams. Period. Yes we would get turned over on occasion, yes occasionally we would have some shite dressed in blue, but the expectation was that we would win.
That attitude has pretty much now gone, and with it our expectation of ever winning anything.
This isn't aimed at you btw mate, but how the fuck can we realistically expect to win anything if we don't believe, and I mean truly fucking believe, that we will twat the promoted teams? That standards have dropped, seismically.
