Moyes doesn’t see him as an out and out right back though, he’s been shifted to midfield 15 mins into a game the other week due to an injury in midfield when there were other options so he could have stayed at right back, he’s moved him into midfield again against Lille when Patto came on. He’s played him at right mid last season when we were crying out for something different at right back. If he’d was legit seen as the solution to the issue then surely he’d have given him all of his minutes there in pre season to get used to it, rather than shifting him about as the utility man he is. As for the 30-40 million for a right back issue, how many of the 20 PL sides have a right back who cost them that much? The clubs we supposedly aspire to be in Brighton Bournemouth and Brentford manage to scout and sign them for considerably less than that. Muñoz cost palace about 7 mil from the Belgian league and is one of the best around. We supposedly have an elite recruitment team yet they aren’t acting like one, they are targeting known entities any of us could pick out.

I’ve no issue with Rohl starting the season there but if they fail to sign a first choice right back, again, it’s an abject failure and no “it’s ok Merlin can play there” excuses that.
