Yes, the shabby chic (cheap) fit out is becoming repetitive, junk hanging from everywhere and wallpaper/plaster falling off the walls - but it creates a vibrant set of pubs where loads of youngsters work/frequent and you can sit down and have any number of choices of a pint of real ale for comfortably under a fiver and actually have a conversation. Miles better experience than all the other "bars" in town
