We are stopping off at Santa Cruz for the day on our cruise next week. The wife really wants to go stargazing in Mount Teide but all the organised tours seem to start around 6 and then take four or five hours. We have to be back on the ship for 11pm.

Anyone been and done this by private taxi? Is it possible to get from Santa Cruz up to the mountain, have a couple of hours stargazing after dark and then get back all in about 4 hours? And if so, how much do you reckon a taxi driver would charge for this?
