If you'd asked me at the beginning of the season I'd have said £50m plus his massive wages was too much at his age. But having now had the benefit of seeing how well he's settled into the club and the effect he has on the team I'd say it's a no brainer. And even at 31, he's surely got another four or five years in him.

Hopefully we can afford that, because the full backs and forwards we need are gonna cost wedge too.
