Agreed, goes back a long way, you think of David Bairstow (RIP), Graeme Fowler and Marcus Trescothick to name but a few.
Mike Brearley wrote a really good article on the subject in "The Cricketer" last year after the passing away of Graham Thorpe.
It's just so incredibly sad.
