I think making the point that he was in an offside position makes it seem even more of a contrived decision.

If he's deemed to have fouled the keeper then that's a decent enough reason to disallow the goal anyway isnt it?

By saying he's fouled the keeper AND done it from an offside position it's like they know they are on dodgy ground and are doubling down in order to make it more justifiable.
