Saw him in 1969 at the Liverpool Empire with Eric Clapton and George Harrison as part of Delaney and Bonnie's backing musicians. Great show. Thorn Tree in the Garden was one of the highlights of Layla which he wrote and sounds like it's about a lost lover but it is his dog. RIP
