Re: Currently reading
Not long finished Tokyo Express by Seicho Matsumoto. Quite enjoyable despite being a bit predictable. A bit dull at times too so wouldn't highly recommend. Currently reading: Petals of Blood, by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o - a murder investigation set against the backdrop of imperialism and exploitation in Kenya. Really interesting and enjoyable so far, the main protagonists are layered, complex and well developed. The Passenger by Cormack McCarthy - one of my favourite writers. This is an eerie story about a downed plane in the water off the US Coast in the Gulf of Mexico, so mainly set in the deep south. Very different to his other stuff, it feels quite Murakami-ish in its surrealness and meandering storylines. Enjoying it but not what I expected.
