Re: Weekend TV / Films
The Banshees of Inisherin - Martin McDonagh black comedy set in Craggy Islandesque community in 1923 Ireland with the civil war raging on the mainland almost unnoticed. Brendan Gleeson mysteriously ends his friendship with Colin Farrell and becomes increasingly desperate to get his message across as Farrell won’t take no for an answer. A strange film, really funny though and oddly touching in places. Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon are both great in support. The scene where Dominic asks out Siobhan is fantastic - “Well there goes that dream”. Enjoyed it anyway. 8/10 C4App Two Way Stretch - B&W comedy with Peter Sellers as one of a trio of prisoners who try to give themselves the perfect alibi by breaking out of prison to commit a robbery before returning. Clearly a massive influence on the writers of Porridge, it’s a decent and funny old fashioned comedy. 6.8/10 C4App
