I acquired it from my friend, Mark Joseph. Here is his story:
This story is about an Evel Knievel “Stunt” bicycle. It was manufactured by AMF to resemble the stunt Harley Davidson motorcycles Evel Knievel used.
The AMF Roadmaster came complete with a plastic gas tank and red, white and blue “Evel Knievel” decals and when it was released in 1976 became one of the most desired bicycles in the United States. I got mine in 1975.
Before the bicycles were officially put on the market, a couple of prototypes were assembled by AMF and sent to Evel Knievel for final design approval. My bike is one of those two, and here is how I got it.
My name is Mark Joseph and I was born and raised in Butte, Montana. On my tenth birthday in 1975, I received the best birthday present a 10 year old boy could ever wish for, an Evel Knievel Stunt Bicycle.
It was given to me by my childhood hero, who happened to be my next door neighbor and good family friend. My friend Robbie called him “dad”, out of respect I called him Mr. Knievel.
My father had the foresight to store the bicycle for me for over 30 years, and on a trip home to Butte for the holidays in 2005, two years before Mr. Knievel passed away, I asked Mr. Knievel and Robbie to autograph the bicycle.
On that day in December 2005, I took a photograph in the Knievel home just moments after the bicycle was autographed. In the photograph are the bicycle, my son (who was ten at the time) and my next door neighbor and friend, Mr. Evel Knievel.
Also pictured was Mr. Knievel’s family priest (holding a camera), as well as Mr. Knievel’s security personnel.
Mr. Knievel passed away in 2007 and Robbie, my childhood friend and playmate, is now known as Kaptain Robbie Knievel and is a stunt rider in his own right.
All the research I have done leads me to believe this is the only Evel Knievel AMF Prototype Roadmaster bicycle that exists, autographed by both Evel and Robbie Knievel.
The signatures have been authenticated and the Certificate of Authentication, as well as the photograph I described above, are included with the bicycle.
The asking price for this ONE OF A KIND Evel Knievel collectable is $2500 and shipping is free. If interested please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
